why would non-married people wear rings? not on ring finger but elsewhere. what does that mean if they have several? (link)

My mom wears several rings, not on her ring finger, but she wears them. She likes the way they look on her hand. A lot of women like to show their personality through the rings they choose. I don't know about men. I think they just wear rings for the "bling-bling" factor, to be "cool", but if you ask me, it just looks gaudy.
