I firmly believe that I have a mental illness. Not something serious. Just like a personality disorder. However, my parents think I'm perfectly normal...and just exaggerating. However, I'm not. But whenever I try to tell them, they shrug it off and refuse to let me go to a therapist or something. What can I do to make them listen to me? Is there some kind of online or on-the-phone service? Thank you. =]

I know how you are feeling, trust me. Don't take no for an answer. If your parents tell you, oh your fine, continue to say that you aren't and dont let them change the subject. You need to see a therapist and if your parents approve of that you don't have anything to worry about, your therapist will take care of it. It's important to talk to your parents at the right time, not when they are busy or running out the door. And it's best not to talk to them at night (usually parents are exhasted). So say you have a long car ride, that would be perfect, because they can't walk out on you. There is phone numbers you can call, however I don't know what area you live in, so I can't give you a number, they are different for each area. Also I don't know if you are in summer school, or when your school starts, but schools in NY state are required to have a school counseler. That person has been trained to help teenagers, and that might be a good person to begin talking to. Just tell that person your situation and they can talk with your parents. Tell your parents you just walk to see a therapist to have someone to talk to. Then from there you can get the help you need! Good luck!:)
