hii, uhm i have a problem. my friend is having a pool party towmorrow and i have my period. youd prob all say use a tampon, but i hate using them they hurt me so much. there are also going to be boys at this party who will try to push me in. what should i do? (link)

I've had a similar problem to this before. for my birthday i took a few of my friends to a waterpark as my party. When we got to the park i discovered that i got my period. and this was the first time ever having my period. i was scared, nervous...ect. but my mom went and bought me tampons. they hurt so bad but the reason they hurt was becasue i didnt put them in all the way...it still worked, it just hurt.
so im thinking that the reason it hurts to wear a tampon is becasue you are not putting it in correctly or not in all the way. they are actually very comfortable when properly used. You could always ask your mom or sister if you have a sister for help. if need be.
However; If you do not want to wear a tampon i would just come ot the party a few minutes late & say taht your going somewhere after the party and your mom doesnt want you wet. that way you can still enjoy the time with your friends. and if these guys ahve any respect they would leave you alone.
