I'm a woman in Texas. I'm married and have a school-aged child. I have a medical background. I'm quite liberal, socially. I love helping people with medical, parenting, and social questions. Don't ask me about tech stuff or finances, because I need advice on those things myself!

I got sick two days ago, and my throat has been sore the whole time. It's at the poihnt now that I can hardly talk. I'm giving a lecture in front of my class and it's a huge deal. I can't miss that day or I will fail. Any suggestions to get over this fast? I've tried zicam, apple cider vinegar... nothing works. (link)
You can go to your doctor to make sure it's not a bacterial thing, such as strep throat (symptoms are fever, headache, sore throat, sometimes stomach ache and rash). If it's viral, the best things you can do for your throat are sucking on hard candies or menthol cough drops and drinking hot teas with honey, which will help coat the throat and soothe your vocal chords.

I can't believe that if you miss that day, even if due to illness, you can't make it up another day. (meaning that I'm expressing outrage, not that I'm doubting you.) I would be willing to bet that the principal/dept head would not allow the teacher/prof to enforce that.

I hope it works out for you!
