Q: When I walk in the hallways at school, I always have that "tired" look. And people tell me it looks evil, like I am some boring, mean person. It's because I am always tired. I can't help but have a plain look on my face, but when I don't smile I look scary! I think that's why I can't make a lot of friends because they assume I just hate everyone.

What can I do?? I can smile but I don't want to look like a hyper and happy girl with a smile on her face 24/7. How can I look friendly without scaring people or looking weird?

Thanks
I don't think looking evil sounds so bad, it's sorta hot.

But anyway, there are ways to look friendly and not tired, without smiling. Watch your posture... standing up really straight makes a lot of difference, you won't look tired, you'll look determined. Raise your eyebrows a little. Keep your mouth closed. Tilt your face up. And if that doesn't do anything, it's okay to smile a little bit... if you've ever been on stage or looked at pictures, you'll know that people have to REALLY feel like they're smiling and try hard to have people notice that they're actually smiling, it's never as noticable as you think it is.

thanks

I've been in the advice column over five years now so I think I've pretty much heard it all... the love, the hate, the random insanity. I don't take it too seriously, so I'm not always giving the best advice, but my column is fun to read!

I am a 23 year old electrical engineer, a feminist, a Christian. I don't know everything but I can sure pretend to.

Disclaimer: Now that I'm on advicenators I'm getting even more questions every day. It's fast and easy for me to answer them, yes, so at least I'm answering something now, but if your question contains the words "there's this guy that I like..." chances are I won't get around to it. I'm only answering interesting questions that I haven't answered before. Register at the site and ask everyone for advice if you must have an answer, because if people read my column and boring love advice was all they found, they'd never come back.
