Hi, my name is Katie and I'm 15 years old. In those fifteen years I've literally been through more than most people go through in their entire life. I absolutely love helping people, and I've been told by many people that I'm good at it. I'll definitely love to give you advice, but I'm telling you right now I will say what I think, I'm not going to sugar coat everything or tell you what you want to hear just so you'll give me good ratings. So if you have any questions, about anything at all, just ask away, I'd be more than happy to help =]

I am almost 14 and I've never had my period before. I have a few questions that I really need answered.
1.) I heard that you gain weight during your period/puberty. I'm definitely in puberty right now, but I'm afraid that when I get my period, I'll gain alot of weight. Is this true?
2.) Does it feel uncomfortable to exercise when you have your period? I would really like to keep biking (about 60 min) daily. But I'm afraid it will feel uncomfortable if I have my period when exercising.
3.) Do tampons hurt to put in the first few times? I am probably going to have to wear them when exercising. But can you put them in wrong or can they get stuck? Also, which brand of tampons do you like the best? (link)

1. You will gain some weight, but not alot. When you hit puberty you will start to fill out, as in get your curves in your breast, hip and thigh areas. You will start looking more like a woman instead of a little girl.
2. A few days before and about the first two - three days of your period you will be very crampy, this is called PMS. But it shouldn't be so severe that you can't ride your bike. Excersing actually helps relieve cramps. Some girls don't even cramp at all, it's different for every person.
3. Okay, yes the first time you use a tampon it might be a little uncomfortable and scary, but it shouldn't hurt. Your box of tampons will come with an application guide that tells you (and provides diagrams) on how to use tampons.
I buy Tampax Pearls, they have a smooth applicator so putting them in is as comfortable as possible, plus they come in cute and colorful wrappers :)
I hope all of this helps, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Good luck!
