I'm 21 and I do have crooked teeth. I've had crooked teeth for quite sometime now. It's something that runs more so on my dad's side of the family so I may have the gene. Anyways, I think I may need braces and am kinda nervous about wearing them. Could someone who has had braces tell me what I would probabily need to expect and how it was with you having braces?

Ya know, people are usually very supportive when one gets braces when their older. The only thing you'll have to worry about are those dang cuts you'll get every now and then in your mouth. I had braces all through middle school and my freshman year of high school. I wasn't teased much, but I know adults who have braces and everyone is so happy for them, because they're getting everything together. ya know?! You'll be fine! =]

I was told by another person that once you have braces, you have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life. Orthodontist's have a policy of not saying that to their patients.
