Q: Well my dad died a few years back, and my mom has been depressed and lonely ever since. She tells me all the time that it's hopeless for her to find a single guy her age anymore (45, but she doesn't near look it). Just last night she said to me, 'Honey, I'm lonely,'. And it broke my heart, because she loved my dad, but she hasn't found anyone. She has tried online dating and that wasn't her thing. What are some of your ideas for my mom to meet men? Thank you so much for your help!

I had a close friend once who's mother was in the same type of dillema. You say she's 45, well hell.. that's still young. She shouldn't feel like her life is over because of her age. I understand that her husband is deceased, but it's been a few years. Nobody said she had to forget him, and I'm sure that she never will. There is one thing that people always say about death and marriages, "He would have wanted her to be happy." If she loved him, she should know that even after his death, he would have wanted her to be happy and live life, love again. Online sites, usually aren't the answer. I suggest, strongly, that she work. Working keeps people's minds off of stressful personal problems. She would have more to do with her time and not be so lonley. Perhaps she doesn't need a boyfriend directly, but maybe a couple of girlfriends. Girlfriends are the best way to meet guys. They have good taste, and they know how things work. Tell her to ask some of her friends, have them introduce her to some male friends, and see where it goes.
