Hi I'm a 27 year old female from British Columbia, Canada. I work in retail as a sales assoicate. I have an above average intelligence about relationships and mental health issues and love giving advice to those in need. My parents bitterly divorced when I was 13 and through this I learned a lot about relationships. I've also lived through a severe depression and mental breakdown in my early twenties, so I know a lot about mental health. If anyone has a question for me about either of these topics I would be glad to answer as best to my abililty. I would just like to add how much joy this site had brought to my life. I truly believe that by helping others you help yourself.

Hey I'm a guy and was just wondering about something...
I know its normal and not exactly their fault and everything, but when a girl goes through monthly stuff, what are we, the guys, supposed to do. I really don't mind it, but sometimes I feel like I need to help out my g/f with whatever the problem may be...but I can't. Should I just be there to talk and listen? That's what I've been doing so far. I mean I can't think of any good advice other than lie down, take some medicine, try to relax, and stuff like that. Should I try to help, or just stay out of the way? Is there any way I can help or no? I know I don't or ever will understand what it feels like or anything, but I'd still try to help with anything. Will rate, thanks in advance. (link)

I would just treat her like you normally do. Whatever you do, DON"T say something insensitive like"Oh, someones on the RAG."
When I'm on my period (since you wanted to know what it feels like), I get really tired and more irritable then usually. Basically we are peeing out blood so we feel like a leaky faucet for several days. My back gets really sore and I break out more than normal. It also leaves a real mess on our panties if our pad leaks and I'm always worried that I smell.
Remember, every girl is different. Some get worse PMS then others. In the most extreme of cases, one women was found (by her husband) to have taken all of the living room furniture out on to the front lawn.
Most periods only last about 4-5 days. Just be sensitive. Oh, and if you want a way to calcualate when your girlfriend will get her period, her is a scientific method. When your girlfriend gets her period, on the first day it starts mark it on your calendar. Then count 28 days after the day her period starts. This will tell you excactly when her next period will start, so you can be prepared for some mood swings several days before.
hope to have helped
