About bookman

Hello, everyone! I just joined the site last night and wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Bookman and I came here from another site where I cruised under the same name. The reason I chose Bookman is that I love to read. It is very hard to find me at leisure or commuting on the bus without a book or other reading material at hand.

I'm 46, brown hair, blue eyes and have a great sense of humor. I'm also single and looking. I've been told I'm a better than decent cook, so I'm attending a culinary school to become a certified prep cook. The only real difference between me and a regular prep cook will be that piece of paper. I need it to help me get a job in the Seattle area. It's a tough job market here.

I've also been told I give pretty good advice, so bring it on. I relate better to the older crowd, but the younger ones are more than welcome. I'll be happy to give you the benefit of my experience, and as egotistical as it sounds, I have a lot of experiences others may not have. I have led a full, exciting life! My specialties are cooking, books, spirituality and relationships. I threw the random weirdo into my profile just for fun.

Anyway, that's me! So here I am! Let's get this party started!

First of all, let me clear the air. Im a sexually active 20 year old, Ive never been married, and I personally see nothing wrong with premarital sex, or sex in general.

But.

I have many friends who are Christian or Catholic, and they are (in my opinion) anywhere from sexually repressed at best, to afraid of and disgusted by sex at worst.

I cant really talk to most of them about it, simply because its a very uncomfortable subject. So I pose the question to the masses. For those of you who are religious, what are your views on sex, and why?

Thought provoking answers might get my screen name for further discussion, if you like. Any answers that sound something like

"ur crazy! Sex is uber cool! I LOVE SEX AND THERS NOTHIN WRONG WITH IT!! hope I helped plz rate"

or outright flames will get a 1.

I am a Christian and believe sex before mariage to be a sin. I am guilty of it myself, being human, but nevertheless, recognize it for what it is. There is a verse in the New Testament(1Corithians, I believe) that prohibits "chambering" (KJV). I interpret this to be either prematital sex or living together without benefit of a formal marriage. There are those, also, who interpret the Old Testament as stating that once two pwople "lie together" they are married.

It is ultimately your decision as there is also a verse which states that what is a sin to some is not a sin to others. I believe this verse refers to such things as the eating of meats that had been previously been determined to be unclean, but which God had now given us permission to eat provided it was blessed first. (The origin of our mealtime "blessing")

My personal opinion is that it is an act of love between two people and is not to be used for simple recreation as is happening more and more today.

These websites might interest you. Its more concise than I could put it at this hour anyway. I tried to find the New Testament reference, but couldnt.

Basically, if you do enough time really looking into things, the bible never addresses alot of issues. Premarital sex and sex being wrong are two of them.

This is to brief to start a discussion, but my aim is spirit fox75 if you ever get an inkling. Someone pointed me to this website earlier tonight, and Its given me all kind interesting things to chew over.

My one note on the bible. The bible, regardless of belief that its Gods word, or mans interpretation, is only in its pure form in the original language. There are many studies that show point blank that something was lost in the translation to english. Alot of something, depending on who you ask.

I dont believe premarital sex is a sin. Casual sex... well is it a sin, I dont know.

What I do think is that sex, even recreational sex, is supposed to be somewhat special. People desensitize themselves to that by not caring about their partners.

I just think a differentiation should be made between casual SEX and a casual partner. I have purely recreational sex with my current partner. I love her. But by no means is all of our sex romantic, or even meaningful. Its just simply fun.
