How Can I broaden my vocal range, and give my voice even better tone?

Thanks in advance! (link)
Got a few years experience in this. Firstly and most importantly when try to stretch your voice, as it were, make sure that you don't try to belt these top/bottom notes at first- start them soft and build the sound and strength up or you'll damage your vocal chords. That said here are some slightly unorthodox tips i found helpful:

1) Scream (properly, don't try to make it sound pretty) as high as you can then gradually bring the scream down through your range trying to feel it at the back of your body as though the sound is travelling down a half wheel attached to your back. Singing is, as one vocal coach put it, just a glorified scream, and this should help open up your throat and warm up your voice as well as stopping you being scared of top notes.
2) Use and strengthen your diaphragm. I don't know how new you are to singing so i'll tell you it's located just where your ribs meet at the bottom. If you breathe out sharply you should feel it move outwards. This is when you should be singing from and this is what needs to be strong for you to be able to cope with more extreme notes. Do some breathing exercises which focus on control of the breath, holding notes for a long time etc.(If you need some ideas for exercises, ask me on my column). When trying to actually sing these higher and lower notes, try to make this area of your body solid (it also helps to clench ur arse together at first) while keeping the throat loose.
3)Very simple, but when trying to sing high notes, think "down" in your head and try to feel like you're pushing down inside your body (this means letting your stomach push forwards in a way most girls hate to do, but trust me it helps)
4)In terms of tone, again, i don't know how new you are to singing, but make sure you're not singing through your nose (pretty common). Hold it and sing. You'll sound ridiculous but it'l give you an idea of where to place the sound. The more you open your throat, the purer the sound will be but if you're going for husky (which you shouldn't be unless it's natural-you'll ruin your voice), it comes back to the diaphragm. You need to sing from down in your chest rather than in your throat, which again, will screw your voice over as well as limiting your range.

Hope this was of some use. Contact me if you want specific exercises or anything.
