If you know he liked you .. then you shouldn't have a problem telling him how you feel.. I guess the problem lies with him being shy right? okay here you go:
You can try subtle hints and even smiles you never give him.. Or you can be blunt and say it nicely and calmly that you like him and ask him how he feels about that. if I was right then you could have a better relationship. I hope this helps. And good luck this sounds sweet.
