Q: My dance is friday and of course I got my period yesterday. I have to wear a dress but I am not so good with tampons. I've used one once but the last time I used one it hurt and I had to take it out and it hurt more. I don't really know how to get over my fear and do it, I mean, I HAVE to for the dance unless I wear a pad, but, you know...yeah. Does anyone have any tips for getting over the fear of tampons?

There are tons of different tampons, buy a variety pack of one's with plastic applicators. They have one's specifically made for teenagers too, so check into those. I'm sure you can find them at local grocery stores or whatever, but an applicator is a must if you are having a hard time getting it out. I wouldn't put anything like vaseline or anything like that onto it because it could smear onto the rest and make it hard to absorb. Make sure you read all the directions and at the very least, just breath and relax, tensing up will make it hurt.
