advice
Here is something I have always thought to be true:
If you go to a food service-type industry, and the person serving you interests you, it is not entirely wrong if one were to make some sort of 'move' toward the person, perhaps in a subtely manner which may or may not end in the reception of a phone number.
However, unless provoked, the person serving, unless attempting to simply milk a tip from the person, should not directly hit on any customers.
Does anyone else agree? I work at an ice cream shop, and during the summer, there are plenty of...well...chances.
i agree. somebody who works as a waiter/waitress/whatever should not hit on the customers. however, i believe that the customers are free to hit on the waiter/waitress/whatever as long as they do not stalk or harass anybody. i don't think it's right for somebody who is at work to ask somebody else for their phone number, but if a customer should ask you for a phone number then that would be okay. but, if the customer is totally flirting with the waiter/waitress/whatever, then it's okay for the employee to inquire about setting up another meeting.
i have an interview with academy sports and outdoors tomaro @ 11:00. is it okay to wear jeans? or should i go for something a little nicer?
thanks.
♥BLAiR
you should wear something nicer. while it may be acceptable to wear jeans as an employee, you haven't yet proved your worth to the company yet so you should try to impress the people there as much as possible. having a nice appearance at a job interview makes a good first impression, so if i were you i would go for something a little nicer. once you get the job (assuming you will), you can probably wear jeans.
hey :D,
I was wonderin has anyone tried the new acuve oyasis contacts? I was thinkin of switchen to them but i dunno if it's worth the exrta money or not.
Thanks,
Becca
my sister uses them. her other brand of contacts used to fall out all the time, but now that she has acuvue oasis, her contacts are more hydrated and she can keep them in for longer. go to the eye doctor and ask them about it. they'll give you a trial pair- if you don't like them, you can always keep using the brand of contacts that you're using right now.
hi i'm irish, and i burnnn super easily.
but i realy want to get tan this year.
any suggestions? other than self tanners?
use a high SPF tanning oil. don't stay outside for too long at first. you might also want to get an after-sun lotion (banana boat makes a lotion like this) to keep your skin moisturized. as you keep tanning, you may be able to lower the SPF on your tanning oil/sunscreen and stay outside longer, but don't chance it when you first start. just remember to reapply sunscreen often and keep track of time when you're tanning.
Ok, so I have a plantars wart on teh bottom of my foot.
I've had it for awhile now, and I have been using Compound W.
It's kind of working but not well.
I'm really just wondering, if I get it frozen off, if it will hurt, being a plantar wart in all.
Any personal expierience[Sp?] would be good.
Thank yous. [:
i had a friend that had that type of wart on the bottom of her foot. she went to the dermatologist and... i can't remember exactly how they removed it, but they removed it. she said that it didn't hurt very badly because they numbed that part of her foot. i've heard that getting warts frozen off just felt kind of funny but doesn't actually hurt.
ok this shirt i bought off of ebay arrived a few days ago but likee .. its smaller than the description said. and im really tall so when i move my hands anywhere above my waist it comes up. and theres a strict dress code in my school.
is there any possible way on the face of this earth i can stretch it or make it longer?
i normally either wear a long tank underneath shirts that are too short (my school's dress code is strict, too) or i wear a jacket over it. make sure that whenever you wash this shirt, lay it out on a table to dry and then hang it up or iron it or whatever. if you put it in the dryer, it may shrink even more.
What product can I use to get the chlorine out of my hair and restore it's natural oils after I go swimming this summer? My hairs naturally dry, and swimming and the sun isn't helping. Please help!
there is a special conditioner by paul mitchell that is for use after swimming in a pool with chlorine. i forget what exactly it's called, but it works wonders. but be sure to always wash your hair after swimming. i find that using two different kinds of shampoos cleanses my hair better than using just one shampoo after swimming. i normally use sheer blonde and/or paul mitchell, but that's irrelevant. go see if your grocery store has that special conditioner for chlorine. it should help.
i love to sing and i have a really nice voice. but i cant get over my fear of singing. i want to be in my Spring Musicals and definatley Sing for my 8th grade year at the talent show. i joined chior so that can help and it has. i had a solo to do but it wasnt infront of alot of people. im afraid if i will freeze up infront of tons of people. any ideas on how i can make sure im over it and how to get over it just in case im not. i also sing with my instructor but its easy not singing infront of a little bit of people. so if you have any tips please tell me. i want to do this and not freeze up.
i don't sing, but i have been playing piano for 9 years so i have had many performances. what always helps me is warming up. since you're talking about singing, i'm going to share a little story. peggy lee, the lady who sang "fever" years ago, used to have a ritual before she would go on stage. she would stand behind the curtain, scream, stomp her foot, and then the curtain would open and she would begin. maybe you should create your own little "ritual." i know i have one- i go outside and skip around the parking lot. one thing that helps me is when i convince myself that it really doesn't matter if i mess up because nobody in the audience can play as well as i do (so convince yourself that you're the best singer in the world, pretty much). confidence is key. convince yourself (and the people around you, for that matter) that you can do it. just keep telling yourself that no matter what happens, nobody cares if you mess up. even if you're off pitch or in the wrong key, just keep going until you get it right. the audience won't care if it doesn't sound right, but if you stop and freeze they'll notice that something is up. i've done piano performances where i've completely forgotten pages of songs that i was supposed to be playing, so i just played random chords until i remember the very last line of the song. but since the piece that i was playing was harder than all the others and i pretended like i knew what i was doing, the audience gave me a standing ovation. it's all in your mind. just keep reminding yourself that you can do it.
do i have to worry if my teen is emo--he quit swim team --does not like coach --"different"--don't "know him anymore"---artistic --freshman in large public high school--decent student --oldest child in family of 3 children, mom and dad
your teen is perfectly normal. i know you're concerned about not knowing him as well and him quitting swim team, but to be honest, that is perfectly normal. i quit softball years ago and i'm not emo. my parents and i argue sometimes, and sometimes they don't understand me, but that's also normal. artistic is not always bad. in short, you really don't need to be worrying about your son being emo. you need to start worrying if he starts doing drugs, slitting his wrists, getting into trouble at school, drinking, etc. by the looks of it, he knows better than to do that.
How often do people in high school that are dating stay together?
Rumor has it that most couples in high school fall apart after that. However, my friend's parents have known/dated each other since middle school, my teacher and her husband have known/dated each other since middle school, and my brother and his fiance have dated since high school. It really just depends. I believe in soulmates, so I think that it really, really, really just depends on the people involved. As time goes by, things start to change in relationships, and the relationships that can adapt to change will last :)
i am really intrested in being like a lighting guy for like tv and bands like the guy who makes the lights go a different color and move and stuff
anyone got websites about it please give them to me ill rate
sam
my family owns a stage/audio/lighting company, so i know what you mean. we provide things like this for big events and concerts. most of our employees have taken summer or night courses at local colleges about lighting and production. there are also books about this subject. the best way to get experience is to try to contact people that are in this business. by talking to people that have been doing lighting for concerts and television, you not only gain knowledge about the subject but you also get a foot in the door, so to speak. i would recommend looking in the yellow pages for companies that do this type of work (believe me, there are some), and calling them up and talking to the people there. i don't know if you want to go to work right away, but if you interview for a job and show a genuine interest in lighting, then the company might hire you and pay for your schooling. it kind of depends on your work ethic and the way you present yourself. books and websites will give you a better idea about this career path, but the best way to learn about lighting is to get out there and talk to the people that have been doing that kind of thing all their lives.
Ok, I'm just wondering if 1590 is a good SAT score, because I'm not sure. I know they've changed some things, so can anyone tell me if this is good? I think I should take it again in the fall, what do you think?
That score is a little above average. I would recommend taking it as many times as possible. My counselor told me that each time a student takes it, their score generally improves so it can't hurt to retake it in the fall. I'm in 8th grade, and I took it last year when I was in 7th grade and made a 1110 out of 1600. My friend took the new test and made a 1610 out of 2400. So my friend and I got scores that were relatively equal to each other, but I took the old SAT and she took the new SAT. I'd recommend just retaking it as much as you can and perhaps purchasing a few SAT-prep books to help.
this isnt really advice... but does anyone know a good song by the all american rejects, the beatles, beck, coldplay, the cure, dave matthews band, death cab for cutie, franz ferdinand, Guster, hellogoodbye, Jack johnson, the magic numbers, no ddoubt, The Red Hot Chili peppers, the smiths, the strokes, weezer, or Zox that have really good lyrics that could explain my love for someone in my profile? i'm a girl if that helps.
try weezer - hold me, coldplay - yellow, or weezer - falling for you
do you guys know any websites where i can get sheet music (ya know that you need to play an instrument)???? plz plz!
thanx xo!
it depends on what instrument you play. i'm assuming that you play piano, so try going to pianofiles.com. otherwise, go to 8notes.com.
What is the thematic relationship between the story told in "To Kill a Mockingbird" and the books title? Discuss at least 3 characters that might be discribed as "mockingbirds".
i have no clue what in the world im suposed to write about. can someone please give me an idea what exactly its asking?? 5's
thanks
to me, the title kind of refers to atticus teaching his children all of these life lessons and things. sure, the book is about kids having fun in a small town, but in the end it's about their father teaching them all of this valuable stuff. one of those things is that you should never kill a mockingbird because the mockingbird never did anything to anybody else. as somebody already said, boo would probably be one of those people. he never did anything to scout and her brother, yet they keep tormenting him. i haven't read the book in awhile, but you know the black man that supposedly rapes the white girl? he was also innocent in the same sense. he was just doing what was right, minding his own business, and the white girl's father claims that his daughter was raped by him. so those are already two characters that are similar to mockingbirds. since it's been so long since i've read the book, i can't really remember anybody else. good luck!
Me and my friend Olivia are making a DVD for my friend Heidi for a present for her 15th birthday this Saturday. Help! We need good suggestions of GOOD MUSIC to put on for the background of the slideshow. I will rate if you respond FAST!:)
So what is some good friendship songs that I could put on?
Thanks:)
try listening to a song by the white stripes called "we're going to be friends." it's a cute song. if you saw napoleon dynamite, the song was at the beginning of that movie.
I'm a trumpet player, and I went on vacation for spring break this week. Now I'm back, and I can hardly play a thing. My chops are way out of shape, and its never been this bad before. Just wondering if there were any suggestions that could help me get back in shape quickly. Like by Monday...??? Please let me know if you can help me.
the best thing you can do is just keep practicing. i have several friends that are trumpet players, and i'm a saxophone player. whenever i have trouble getting back into the swing of things, i just have to keep playing scales and stuff. i suggest that you just keep playing a chromatic scale from top to bottom, back and forth, until your lips start to feel normal again. also try playing scales with different tongue/slur patterns: like tongue-slur-tongue-tongue (tee-ah ta ta) or tongue-tongue-tongue-slur (ta ta tee-ah). if you've ever done solo/ensemble or all-region or anything, then try getting out that music and just going over it. it helps.
I've liked this guy in my government class for about a month now and we never talked, sometimes we'd say hi or smile at eachother but that was about it! Then this past thursday i was walking out of the office in our school and i saw him there, he looked like he was going to say hi so i said hey and smiled and he did the same then i continued walking. So later that night i got home and i checked my myspace and he had sent me a comment, saying, "Hey! How are you? Did you like the movie today?" (we had gone on a movie field trip that day). So i then i wrote back, and we ended up talking for like 2 hours online. Then friday when i saw him in class we said hi but it was kinda like before we started talking. Then after school, i went on a walk with my friend and saw him there playing soccer and he was like flirting a little and smiled at me alot. Then when i got home we talked again for like an hour. so what im asking is does he like me, is he interested, was he just shy in school, because im really shy and wasnt about to go up to him like we were really good friends, so maybe hes the same? Well srry its so long please help!
he loves you, hon. go for it. even if you're shy, you've gotta start somewhere. maybe you should start sitting with him and his friends at lunch, or even just talking more in person (if you see him in the halls, give him a big smile!). it's obvious that he likes you, so just talk to him. think about it: he could be just as nervous about talking to you in person as you are about talking to him in person right now!
im 13/f about 5'2, 5'3 ish i think ?
anyways i weigh almost 100 lbs and i think thats too much. im not even big, so idk
is that normal for my height/age?
thanks
the average for your height is around 120, so you are just a bit under. however, it depends on your body type. i have a friend who is taller than me, yet she weighs 20 pounds less because she has a smaller body type. in other words, you are perfectly normal. anywhere from 100-120 for your height is average for your age.
