I was at a sleepover about 2 years ago (I know.. a long time ago) and we were playing truth or dare at night. Well somebody dared me to shave my THIGHS!!!! and I had no chickens left. (chickens are the 'no thanks, I pass' thing in truth or dare) So I took my friends razor and shaved everywhere on my thighs. Well about a few weeks after I found some hairs on my thighs. I know it's normal for a girl to shave her legs, but what about the thighs??? is that normal?? and what should I do?? I have gym class in school next quarter and we're wearing shorts, I really dont want people to be disgusted about my hairy thighs. So what should I do? Continue to shave it? Please dont say wax them because I REALLY dont want to do that. Please and Thank you!!!

most people shave their thighs. continue to shave it, unless you just really don't want to. but all of my friends shave their thighs, it's perfectly acceptable.

I'm very bad at understanding this like this, so can someone please clarify for me what this poem means or is about?

I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you--Nobody--too?
Then there's a pair of us?
Don't tell! they'd advertise--you know!

How dreary--to be--Somebody!
How public--like a Frog--
To tell one's name--the livelong June--
To an admiring Bog!

"I'm Nobody! Who are you? Are you--Nobody--too?" These first lines are using Nobody as the speaker's name. It's a double meaning, it means that they consider themselves nobody. "Then there's a pair of us? Don't tell! they'd advertise--you know!" That means that the speaker is kind of like, "whoa, there's somebody like me? There's another Nobody?" I can't really explain this very well, but the general meaning of this poem is very sarcastic and ironic. It's like, everybody wants to be Somebody, but everybody is just Nobody. And it's talking about all the great things about being a Somebody, and how special it is to be a Nobody. It's basically the opposite of what most people think. "How dreary--to be--Somebody! How public--like a Frog-- To tell one's name--the livelong June-- To an admiring Bog!" This is saying, basically, being a somebody sucks. It's saying that when you're a somebody, your life is public and people know your name. As for the June/Bog part, I'm not sure. I'm thinking the Bog part is also sarcastic because a bog is like a swamp, and the term "an admiring bog" basically means a lot of admiring people that don't matter. It's like, if you're admired by a bog, it makes no difference. Is this making sense? The tone of this poem is lighthearted and sarcastic. It's talking about all the great things about being a Nobody, and how much it would suck to be a Somebody. However, in real life everybody wants to be a Somebody so it's very contrary. It's making being a Somebody seem like it would be horrible.

ok i just turned 13 a week ago and i'm in 7th grade, and i havn't had a boyfriend yet...i'm pretty sure its because... i'm ugly, i mean i wear glasses i'm 5'0 or 5'1 and i'm fat... (135) waht do i do??i cant talk to a friend or cousin or aunt, and my mom passed away. so i live with my dad. what should i do?? please please please help me.

don't be so hard on yourself! i'm 15 and 5'3", wear glasses (sometimes, i have contacts though) and i've never had a boyfriend. and i'm a freshman. it's not that uncommon. i'm sure you're not ugly, and as you get older, whether you get taller or not, you thin out a little bit. like, two years ago i was chubbier than i am now. basically, with time i kind of changed. because every year up until this year i would go up a size in jeans, but i would never get taller. i can't explain how/why that happened. but then this year i grew like an inch and my pants size stayed the same. and i can't explain that either. if you want to get control of your weight, start exercising. i have a friend, and you remind me of her... she lives with her dad, she's kind of short, and she used to be concerned with her weight. this summer she started eating healthier and exercising and stuff, and she lost two pants sizes. if you don't have any exercise equipment at your house, just go running around your neighborhood or walk or something. do crunches or situps or pushups. there's always ways to control your weight. you can even quit drinking soft drinks and it will help tremendously! not only do you look better, but you feel better about yourself. don't do anything drastic because in a few years you probably won't weigh that much and you will probably be taller. if you're worried about the glasses thing, then get contacts. or get cuter glasses. i mean, i know a lot of guys that love girls that wear glasses. seriously, they make us look really cute. so embrace the glasses. believe it or not, a lot of people wish they had eye problems so they could wear glasses. if you need somebody to talk to, go to a teacher or guidance counselor or neighbor or family friend. they'll listen to you, for sure.

if a book normally sold new as sixty dollars sells for one cent on ebay.. is there a trick? i may as well buy it for 43 dollars on amazon..

a lot of people who say that about ebay... actually don't use ebay and wouldn't know. yes, the starting bid may be $.01, but people may bid on that book until it gets to $75 dollars. you never know. there's not a trick, you just have to be a smart buyer. always read the whole description of the item, and if you have questions, email the seller. also, check out the seller's feedback... if they have any negative feedback within the past 3 months i wouldn't use them. there's not a special trick to ebay, you just have to be smart about it and know how to spot a scam (which doesn't happen often, mind you, like people say... because once again, people that says things like that don't actually use ebay and wouldn't know). i would go to ebay and search for the book and look for auctions that are just about to end. see what the prices are on those. keep shipping/handling charges in mind, too. that should give you a better estimate of what you want to do.

i sent a message to someone by accident. is there a way to delete it before they can read it? thankss

no. if you know somebody that knows their password, you could always hack into their account and delete the message (this is however, an invasion of privacy). or you could send them another message saying, "sorry, i didn't mean to send that to you." there are actually some viruses going around on myspace that if you click on a certain link, companies can post bullitens under your name and all your friends see it. so you could make up an excuse and say that your computer has a myspace virus and sends weird stuff to all your friends. or, you could say that somebody hacked into your account and sent everybody weird messages.

I've given out advices a lot and here and there I've gotten 1's with very rude comments. I've treid my best to answer each question but someone goes "YOU RETARD" or osmething along that line. I'm getting very fed up since 1)They don't give enough details and when we try and answer the question, they go "That didn't asnwer my question *adds extra info*" gives a 1. 2)They don't understand that not all the advice will go out smoothly. No one is going to hold their hands every step of the way and they need to tweak it a little to get it adjusted. Then ther goes the 1 again. This is getting really annoying and I think the moderators who check the questions should reject ones that have barely and information on it and something about it

it makes me angry too. especially when i give someone my honest opinion (without being rude or anything) and they give me a 1 simply because it's not what they wanted to hear. most of the time before i answer a question, i see what the question asker has rated other columnists so i can figure out if i want to answer that question or not. to me, if you're not willing to take advice, you don't need to ask, and i think that's a big problem on this site because a lot of people just ask questions to have people agree with them. if you get bad feedback for just giving your honest advice, then i'd report the question and file an abuse report. i got a 1 on a question once and filed an abuse report. the next day, it had been changed by a moderator to a 3. it helped my rating a little bit but it was still unfair that i got rated poorly. besides that, they deleted the question afterward. i basically just look for the people asking questions that sound like they could take advice... because some questions are like "i like a boy, but he hates me and throws tomatoes at me, how do i get him to propose?" and there's no possible way to answer that sincerely (for me, at least) without basically saying, "he doesn't like you, quit stalking him." see what i'm saying? most people think they can take advice, but they really can't. and i'll admit, i'm one of those people. but that's why i give advice, and i don't ask for it often. anyway, i hope i kind of shared enough of my thoughts to help you.

when people ask you if u do drugs, is vicodin considered a drug?

no. but if you take vicodin regularly just for kicks, i'd say that it's the same concept as doing drugs. it's like substance abuse. but if you're just taking vicodin because your doctor prescribed it, then no.

I got a letter in the mail inviting me to become a People to People student ambassador and go on a trip to China in 2007. It says you have to be invitied to have a chance to be able to go on the trip. I think this is the deal, you go to a meeting and they tell you about it. Then if you decide to go you and your parents go to 6 orientation meetings preparing you for the trip. I just want to know if anyone else has heard of this and is it really and honor to be invited to do this, or is it a scam?? Also what do you think the price range would be for 17 daysin china with this orginization. By the way i'm 13 year old female.

I'm 15/f... I actually traveled to Australia for three weeks with the program last June. It's not a scam at all. It's a great honor, and most people don't get to do this. The cost for my trip was about $6,000. I don't know what the cost would be for China. Basically, what happens is your school gets a form from the People to People program asking if they would like to refer any students. Then your teacher writes down your name based on leadership ability. After that, you go to an orientation meeting just to give you an idea of what the program is all about. Then, you go through an interviewing process and you gather 3 recommendations from other teachers (they have to make sure you're a good kid). After that, you go to 6 orientation meetings, one every month (but you can miss a few if you have other plans). Basically, they tell you EXACTLY what you'll be doing and they give you travel tips. This is an extremely sound organization, started by Dwight Eisenhower 50 years ago. I was telling my friend's dad about my trip a few months ago, and he told me that when he was my age he went to China with the program! It is SO worthwhile. I met so many people and had a fabulous time. They say it's educational, and it is, but it's not ANY classroom work at all. Basically you just travel with a bunch of new friends and hang out and have fun! We even got to order pizza to our hotel rooms a few nights :) It was just so amazing, and I definitely think you should consider going. If your parents aren't willing to pay for the trip, you can do all kinds of fundraisers to raise the money. My best friend traveled to Australia when he was in the 6th grade. He sent letters to family, and family friends and businesses around town asking to sponsor him and give him money so he could go on the trip. I think he collected most of the money himself. One of my other friends went to Washington, D.C. but the cost wasn't too expensive. Just a word to the wise: it may seem like you have to do a lot of extra work, but you really don't. Before the trip, you have to do some stuff at the meetings but during the trip all you have to do is write half a page in a journal about your day every night! I seriously cannot stress how much you'll benefit from this. I really hope you go, it's a very sound program and they ALWAYS make sure that your best interests are a top priority while traveling.

Well, to start off my dog has been living with us for 4 years now and I myself am the youngest member in my family. Whenever I go near my mom, say MOM, or hug her and such, my dog gets REALLY jealous and dictates my mom eventually. I find it interesting and funny but anywhos, is this normal? =P

yeah, that's totally normal. my sister's dog gets jealous when she talks on the phone... so whenever i call my sister, i can always hear a dog barking in the background! basically the dog stands there and barks at my sister, and after a while the dog gets so mad that she'll go poop in my sister's bedroom. it's quite funny. and when new people come over that my dog hasn't seen before, i have to keep the dog separated from my friends so that she doesn't bite them or something. then she starts to understand that i'm okay with the people, and after about 2 minutes she'll run over and start playing with them.

hey does anyone know if theres any sites that would tell you if a certain person is in a certain school...like for example...you type in a name and it tells you if they're part of the school system or anything?
like, that you can access through your home computer?
thanks anything is helpful.

no, that's some serious privacy stuff... however. you can easily "stalk" people on facebook, myspace, xanga, livejournal, and other websites. you might even try google to see if the person has a website. also, you can go to the website of the school because they just might have something about that student. like, the website for my school has my name on it for academic accomplishments and stuff like that. but i don't think there's a website that can release information like that. i hope you find what you're looking for. EDIT: haha, i understand what you're saying. i don't stalk people either, but it's really easy to stalk people if you think about it. :)

does anyone have any tips to give me on these two instruments? i don't take lessons so i wanna learn on my own. please give me the basic facts i need to know for the guitar and novice advise on piano. auggestions are appreciated. thank you~

you've already got websites and stuff from other columnists, but i wanted to say that part of what pinkpong said was wrong. if anything, you should learn piano before you learn guitar. i know because i play both. on the piano, every note is different. however, on guitar, you can play the same note in the same octave on different strings. it's kind of confusing. it's like, you can play the same note 4 or 5 times. you have to think vertically when you play guitar because the notes are on top of each other, and you have to think horizontally when you play piano because the notes are side by side. piano is easier to me, but more people play guitar for some odd reason.

I'm interested in photography. I'd like a good camera but I'm not entirely sure what camera to get.

I was thinking a Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL, but is there anything that's better/just as good...

that is also cheaper?

The Canon Rebel series is awesome, to say the least. My sister has one that she uses at work (so that she doubles as a professional photographer and office manager). And my yearbook staff has one, but not as nice. Believe me, once you get this camera, you will be in love with it. It also depends on what you're using it for. My sister has to take pictures of concerts and events, and my yearbook staff just has to walk outside and take pictures of boys playing football. If you really enjoy photography, I'd go for one of the more pricey ones, but all of the cameras in that series are excellent. In my opinion, Canon is THE BEST. There are some cheaper Canon cameras, but I would strongly advise that you go for the expensive ones if you're serious about photography. If you just want to take pictures of your friends making gangster faces, I'd go for something way cheaper, but if you have to take pictures of important stuff, I'd go for this camera.

he took me to the dance last night and I just couldn't dance with him!!!!!! I told him that I was the chicken that's still in the egg and hasn't got the courage and will power to come out!!!(the chicken is refering to me!!!!) I hung out more with my friends than I did with him!!!! I feel like I'm the worst person in the world( which I know I'm not). we were supposed to go skating today around 1:00 and I told him to call but he hasn't and my nanna erased his number off of the phone and I can't find it in the phone book!!!!!!! help me please!!!!!!! I need some advice and I don't know what to do!!!!!!!

okay, first of all you can take a deep breath and quit using so many exclamation points. ask him if he's upset that you didn't hang out with him at the dance. if he says yes, apologize. if he says no, then you have no problem. as for not having his number, call one of your friends or one of his friends and see if they have the number. you told him to call you and he hasn't so maybe he got grounded or has other plans he didn't know about. how old are you?

is it normal for people to shave there feet?

for girls, yes. we also shave our toes (or at least i do). for guys... not so much. unless you have thick black hair and you look like a gorilla. as long as the hair is unwanted, it's normal to shave it.

hey. i am a guy.. && 15 right now and i am getting a 2001 Black Accord LX 4 Door. I was curious if this is too much of a "girly" car..

no, it's black so it seems okay. i've seen guys driving oldsmobiles before, so your car would be relatively normal.

its my 3rd day of school. i have a quiz tommarow and im most likely going to fail can someone explain, and answer these couple problems.. The endpoints of MN are M(-3,-9) and N (4,8)? what is the approximae legnth of MN? a 1.4, b 7.2 c 13 ,d 18.4? next question, and different type of question.. Use the given endpoint R and the midpoint RS to find the coordinates of the other endpoint S.... R(5,1),M(1,4)

The advice columnist before me suggested the distance formula, but I'm partial to the Pythagorean Theoreom (a squared + b squared = c squared). You find the rise and the run of the line (changes in y, changes in x). Then you make an imaginary triangle. Substitute the change in y and the change in x for a and b in the Pythagorean theoreom, and solve. Then you get the length of side c, the hypotenuse, and you have the length of the line. I don't know how your geometry teacher teaches this, but it works. So, I'll help you out on this question. The change in x between points M and N is 7, and the change in y between points M and N is 17. Substitute those numbers into a and b and solve. So (7 X 7) + (17 X 17) = c squared. As for the next question, basically it's saying that the length of RM = the length of MS. So you use this complicated formula which I will try to type out... [(y sub2 + y sub1)/2] + [(x sub2 + x sub1)/2]. That gives you the coordinates of the endpoint S. I hope I helped... if you need some more explanation, send one to my inbox.
