Does it really work if someone reads you something when you’re sleeping and you’ll remember it?

i think it really depends on the person. it works for most people, but it's not exactly a proven fact for everybody. it works for me though. whenever i have to memorize music, i just plug my ipod in and listen to the music on repeat while i sleep. that may sound dumb, but it can't hurt, right? of course, it may not work like that for other people. like, some people sleepwalk and will like make themselves sandwiches in the middle of the night and have no clue when they wake up in the morning. but if i were you, i would definitely try having somebody read to you while you're asleep, just to see if it works. hope i helped :)

respond asap please!!!

as some of you know, school starts again tomorrow and well I was just in my closet choosing what to wear. I went to florida for about 5 days and I got a really nice tan. So what are some colors (shirts) to bring out a tan? Blue??? Red?? I don't know but that's why i'm asking you guys.

thanks! HAPPY EASTER!

i think a lighter color would make you look really tan. pastels, or white. light yellow works for me :)

okay i always forget what the lyrics to lady marmalade mean so can someone help me out?
thanks in advance!

it's about a prostitute. the french part is like (don't quote me on this), "come to bed with me" or something. songmeanings.net should have some more info. but if you just look at the lyrics on like azlyrics.com, it's pretty self-explanatory.

My dog died something like 1 hour ago. It was very unexpected, and my whole family was crying. I on the other hand, felt no need to cry or anything, although I was close to him as well. Am I a walking time bomb, or is this just my grieving style? Thanks.

it seems that is just your grieving style. i'm similar to you in that way... over thanksgiving break last year one of my close friends passed away, and i cried once. that doesn't mean that i don't miss her... i miss her every day. but that was just the way i responded. like somebody else said... it's like i don't even realize that she's really gone because she's still with me and my friends in spirit. some of my friends responded terribly to the news. one of my friends said, "i envy you, that you can stay calm in this chaos." but maybe that's just the way i am, and maybe that's just the way you are. it doesn't mean you don't care, it just means that you are particular in that way. i'm sorry for your loss.

I'm looking for this song. Here's what the music video is like. Sorry if it's a little vague.

It has a guy and this girl who go to the same high dchool or college. They start dating and then he goes to a bar and he finds her stripping at the bar. Then he tries to talk to her but she wont talk to him. (Then it cuts back to the band playing the song, in the parking lot when it's raining) Then the bouncer kicks him out. Later that night she's babysitting but the guy thinks it's her child then later she gives the child back. When they get back to school they show them talking to eachother through the gate, but he wont talk to her.

Does anybody know which band and what song, or maybe it's not a band. I don't know.

Thanks in advance.

i think i know what you're talking about... like, when he sees her with the kid, is she inside a house and he is kind of looking in? maybe i am totally off here. but i think it is a 3 doors down song. "let me go" or something. http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/3doorsdown/letmego.html

okay this might seem like a stupid question but serouisly i have to wonder. haha
okay
Q1: if a tree falls and no ones around to hear it, does it make a sound?
for my answer that would be a yes because wiether [sp] you hear it or not its going to make a sound. anyone think differently and why.

Q2: what came first, the chicken or the egg?
for that one i would say the chicken because the chicken has to lay eggs. so if there was no chicken there could be no egg. so you couldnt start with just an egg. and besides i think it was the chicken since like.. the egg has to be taken care of inorder to live so.. the egg wouldnt be the first one. anyone agree/disagree. and whyy?

thaankss haha. i just wanted to know what you thought of these. =] chyeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

ahh. okay, Q1: i'm not sure about the science of this exactly, but if nobody and no living thing with a hearing sensory organ then no, it does not make a sound. it makes sound WAVES, which are converted into what we know as sound when they reach an organism's ears. and as for Q2: i'd say the chicken came first. if you believe in the story of creation in the bible, it says that animals were created, not eggs and a bunch of embryos lying around. haha. it's kind of weird though... because if the chicken came first and the egg came second, there would have to be a rooster to fertilize the egg. and if the egg came first, it would also have to be fertilized, not to mention taken care of (a chicken would have to sit on it). anyway, so if a chicken AND a rooster came first, then that would make more sense. haha.

why is this camera so cheap?

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5156026

it's a crappy offbrand camera. it's only 3 megapixels. which, 3 mp was good about three years ago, if that gives you any idea. so if you just want an inexpensive camera to take random pictures with, i guess it would be good, but i like nicer cameras because i love photography.

Okay, so basically I lost my favorite pair of jeans! I'm dying, because they fit me perfectly! So I looked all of the obvious places (my dresser, my car, my gym locker, my regular locker, lost and found.. etc.)
so my question is, what are some horribly ridiculous places I might have put them? (and no, I'm not wearing them either. :P)

oh man, i've lost clothing so many times to the most random places... here are some places you can check: under the bed, laundry baskets, washing machine, dryer, SUITCASES (i find so much stuff in suitcases that it's ridiculous), other people's closets (like in your family), underneath furniture, bathroom cabinets/drawers, underneath rugs, in between furniture, backpacks, friends' houses, IN your bed (look under mattress), in trash/recycle bins... make sure that you ask other people you live with/hang out with if they've seen your pants. if you sleep over at your friends' houses every now and then, ask them. and make sure you get your family to check through their closets and dressers and everything. you never know whose laundry your jeans could be in. good luck :)

okay, if me and my boyfriend started going out on march 17, 2007, then when is our 1 month anniversery? is it april 17th, or is it before? can you count the days, because everytime i try i get a different number.

it will be the 17th of any given month. some months have 30 days, some months have 31 days, so it is easier that way. besides, you won't have to count days and stuff.

Okay, so I do gymnastics and I was talking to my friend and she told me that gymnastics stunts peoples growth. Is that true?

i'm thinking that's a load of crap. if anything, it makes you a healthier person because you exercise.

i don't want to wear high heels since i will be dancing and walking around all night. where can i get nice flats? do you think flats would be ok to wear at prom?

yeah, a lot of people wear flats to formals. and the people who don't wear flats are jealous because you will be more comfy than them! you can get them at dillards, or macy's, or jcpenney's, depending what stores you have where you live.

post them here por favor.

well, of course "sandstorm" (not sure who it's by, but you can search itunes) and that crazy frog song. if hellogoodbye is considered electronic... i like them too :)

Hi!
Yea, so I'm doing a persuasive, three to five page report on why Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (the composer of the Nut Cracker) should be in a hall of fame. I've got all my facts.. but I really don't know why he should be in..

Does anyone have any ideas? Please!? =P

his music for the nutcracker is pretty much "the" christmas music... when you hear it, you think of christmas. so it's very popular, and people continue to perform/listen to/go see the nutcracker around christmastime every year. besides that, his music was very innovative and unique sounding. you can pretty much tell a tchaikovsky piece from any other composer right off the bat because of the unique sound.

I need to learn how to improv, but I am confused on where to start. I listen to a lot of solos but I still don't understand which notes to pick and which ones not to use--how do I figure that stuff out?

don't rate yet, but can you tell me if you are a singer or what instrument you play and then i'll answer? also what kind of music you play/listen to? just more info in general, haha

edit: okay, thanks! since you're a jazz player, you'll probably want to familiarize yourself with the blues and jazz scales. http://www.apassion4jazz.net/keys.html there's a lot of stuff there that should help you. basically you can pick any of those notes... of course, if you're playing in the key of c, you can basically play any note, but it has to be followed almost immediately by a note in the c blues scale or else it will sound weird. on the website i gave you, you'll want to choose what key, and then choose pentatonic blues. it will help tremendously! also, i'm assuming that you can play by ear. so if you have any slow jazz pieces on your ipod or whatever, sit down and try to figure out what notes are going on in that song. it will slowly come together. in fact, i play a lot of different instruments, but i mainly play piano, so i have a spiral notebook full of stuff i've scribbled down over the past few years (i mainly play blues and jazz). you might want to try listening to chris botti. anyway, just learn the blues pentatonic scales, and as soon as that really sticks in your mind, solos will just rattle off the top of your head. you know whenever you're listening to a song, and you start humming a counter melody or something? maybe that's just me that does that. but anyway, keep those things in mind... a solo is like an alternate melody. it doesn't matter how fast you play the notes, just how they fit together. good luck, i know it can be hard :)

would you call the greatest in the world if you absolutely had too? Base it on quality of the music, showmanship, and their overall influence. Also say why you chose them:

-Led Zeppelin
-The Beatles
-AC/DC
-The Rolling Stones
-The Doors
-Metallica
-Pink Floyd
-Nirvana
-The Jimi Hendrix Experience

oh my gosh! this is hard. hmm... i would say either jimi hendrix experience or the beatles because they both completely revolutionalized their genres. i mean, you can hear influence from the beatles in pretty much any rock music today, especially in oasis's music. as for jimi hendrix, he was one of the first psychedelic rock guitar shredders. he used guitar effects and noise to his advantage, unlike the people before him. so probably those two bands because they have influenced so many musicians. the rolling stones are pretty good too, but not as much. i think jimi hendrix had the most showmanship, honestly.

there's a led zeppelin song that i cannot think of and i've asked like 50 people and no one can think of it..it's a pretty famous led zeppelin song they play it on the classic rock station a lot and the only way that i can describe it is that it's really light and it has kind of a piano type thing in the background in the chorus or something...and i remember it being something about love. yeah does anyone know what this song might be??/

i'm not sure if my answer is correct because the only song i know by them is "stairway to heaven", but the columnist who answered "free bird" is definitely incorrect because that song is by lynyrd skynyrd.

Im not sure if this is coincidence or not but do you think the terrorists planned it to be on the day in which the numbers are the same for if you have an emergency (911). The cahnces are 1 in 365 which seems pretty uncoincidental. Any opinions??

yeah, i think that they did plan it that way. there are so many coincidental things that happened that day, but yes.

Hi.
I'm a long time honor roll student, and I've just recieved a Who's Who Outstanding Stundents in America letter.
It says to register for the website and stuff, and a scholorship is possible if I'm accepted..
Has anyone had experience with this? Is it a good program? Is it even legit? lol.

as the other columnists said, the program is not selective at all. they just want your money. and i read in an article the other day that programs like who's who and nhs really won't help you when it comes time to apply to college because they are not difficult to get into. my best friend is in it, and i never got a letter even though i make better grades than she does and i'm in more school activities. so it's just random drawing out of a hat, basically. not to make you feel like you haven't earned it or anything, that's not what i'm saying at all... it's just that it's not exactly a prestigious program, if you get my drift.

is it ok to swim with contacts in ?

yeah, i swim in mine all the time. but, here's something to consider... depending on what kind of contacts you have. mine are disposable, and i take them out and get a new pair once a week. so if mine get ruined, it's not a big deal. but if you have the kind of contacts that you keep for a really long time, just be careful. don't open your eyes underwater and they shouldn't come out.
