Advicenators: Ask lorelei!

Hi, I'm Lorelei. I live with my mother, my older sister and my grandmother.
I travel a lot but I'm never a tourist. ;) My mother owns property all over the country and I'm extremely lucky to feel at home in so many different places. It's a lot of fun and I get to see a lot of things and meet a lot of people.
Shopping always seems to be better away from home too.
I'm very fashion-minded and stylish, spontaneous and energetic, dorky and giggly. I enjoy having a good time. Almost too much. I party every chance I get. I do drink but I do so responsibly and you should too.
I'm very young but the year 2003 caused me to learn more about who I am than some people get to learn about themselves in an entire lifetime. Ever since I've made it a point to share what I've learned with everyone possible. Ask and I'll do my best to answer.

Right now we are in Lake County, IL which is just north of Chicago. My favorite place is definitely Chicago because there are sooo many different cultures and kinds of people here. And some fantastic shopping, haha.

I wouldn't call my family rich, really. We live comfortably and my mom just happens to have a fetish for real estate. ;)

i'm not really sure what a paid account it. all i know is that you have pay advicenators and then what? do you have a paid account?

Yep. After you pay them the 10 dollars, an admin will upgrade your account for you.

i have the code for a slideshow for my pictures in myspace. however, when i go to google and get a url of a band i like and then put it in the code, it doesnt work it shows up as "......" moving across the page. whats wrong???

you might have put in some bit of code wrong. when you mess something up on myspace, it shows up as a period instead of what you want.
i can't tell you exactly what went wrong though since i don't know what exactly it is you tried to do. :]

I'm in school again. I only dropped out for about 6 months before going back.
And not to sound conceited but I've always been well-spoken and well-read. I read a lot and always have. My mom took me to a lot of museums and plays in Chicago when I was too little to care and I think all of that left its mark on me. :)

Why thank you. :) I've heard so many people talk about the Gilmore girls in reference to my name. I've never seen the show before, heh. Almost makes me want to watch it.
Ok, makeup. Lately, I've been using Liquid Eyeliner by The Body Shop. I LOOOVE the applicator. It's almost impossible to mess up. I use brown for the daytime with clear mascara by Max Factor. Usually, I only line my upper eye during the day as well. At night, I use the same eyeliner in black with MAC Pro Longlash in Burnt Umber (it's like a dark brown). Experiment with different colors though, depending your own outfit and hair color. :)

On my hair, I've been using Frederic Fekkai Baby Blonde Shampoo and Fredetic Fekkai Glossing Conditioner. I used to swear by John Freida products, but experimenting never hurts. :) They are working wonderfully.

About our vacay homes, my mother is a HUGE real estate buff and she never likes to stay in one place, lol. She works really hard for everything she wants. She's so smart and dedicated. Ahhh, I love my mommy! lol

ive always been a very loud person and im always screaming and yelling(but im trying to stop)..so over the years ive damaged my voice and now when i speak i talk raspy and i sound like a man.. can anything help this? can a doctor help this? i want my voice back!!! thanks soo much!!

A doctor can maybe help with this. I'd schedule an appointment. Your local medical center will be likely to have an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist.

In my opinion though, women with raspy voices are extremely sexy (i.e. Tara Reid).

your advice column is the shit and i was trying to make my answers bold so i put the html thing and it doesnt show it bold on my column (xoxbrokenxox), but it shows it when i click "veiw answers", you know? How can i fix this show it shows the bold on my advicenators page?

I have this same issue. It has to do with the CSS in your column's layout. Try this:
1. Click "Profile Settings" in the left sidebar.
2. Scroll down to where it says "Describe yourself or your column..." and paste this:

<style>

</style>

...that should make things that are bolded appear as bold in your column. If it doesn't work, I'm sorry but there isn't anything else you can do short of buying a paid account and editing the layout itself.

I'm not sure of physical side effects, but I do know that self-mutilation is self-defeating behavior which is terrible for you. It takes you down emotionally and keeps you down.

I'd do a google search about this. I'm not an authority on SI.

i made the layout using HTML and CSS. I was on advicenators before they instituted paid accounts so I was able to keep the styles I'd already made.

Hey, I'm trying to make one of these && it won't let me upload a picture, it says it's over the max limit and i tried a URL and it just wasn't working, so how did you do yours?

I uploaded the picture to greatestjournal.com and entered the URL in my profile settings. Make sure you enter it where it says "URL of a Picture of you:" and not upload.

Or where you enter your column's description, try this bit of code at the top:
<img src="URL OF PICTURE">
And it should work the same way. :)

Hard As Nails by Sally Hansen will help your nails grow longer and stronger. Orly No-Bite is a polish you put on your nails that tastes extremely bitter and it will help discourage the biting. :)

wow your site is so cute!

Anyway. I was wondering something. I went to the mall with my best friend((who's a guy)) yesterday and we were walking together and the other friend we went with was behind us and she kept saying i was acting like i was in love with him and stuff, but he was the one walking with me. So today he kept asking his girlfriend if she was gonna break up with him and she thinks its because he likes me. He also is like always asking me to hang out all the time and i was wondering if he liked me, because idk.

I can't really tell you that. You'll know when he asks you I guess. :) Don't read too much into what he's doing. Some guys just tend to be more affectionate than others. Or maybe he just really thinks you're cool.
Then there's also the chance that he and his girlfriend are just having problems and he's looking for someone to get "close to".

At any rate, you shouldn't even think of him that way until he is single. Men are weird and often like to send mixed signals.

how do you get your layout like that? like simple little boxes and not so big, and when you answer people do you do html in your answer so the font is like that? thanks

I actually wrote the HTML and CSS for my layout. I created a new column style and wrote it from scratch. I don't use any HTML in my answers.
If you don't like the font size on your column, you can enter CSS into your profile description to change it.
You can learn HTML and CSS from www.w3schools.com and you need to be a paid user or have an older account on advicenators in order to create your own styles.
