help! proper steps to solve this?
-3x+5y=3
3x+4y=24
I have to solve for X and Y.
X= ?
Y= ?
what are the steps and what is x and y? thanks!

1st step, as there are two symbols involved, you add them together.
so,
-3x + 5y = 3
3x + 4y = 24 add each "coloumn" together,
0x + 9y = 27
2nd step, clear up the equation
9y = 27
3rd step, divide.
y = 27/9
so y = 3
4th step, as you have now worked out Y, put it back into the equation. the more straight forward one is 3x+4y=24.
3x + 4 (3) = 24
3x + 12 = 24
5th step, work out x.
3x = 24 - 12
3x = 12
x = 12/3
x = 4
y=3
x=4
now you double check it by putting the values back into the original equation. Ill let you do that bit, just to make sure I've got it right.
