Before I posted about how I wanted to lose weight to be healthy (15/f, 5'4", 138 lbs) by means of exercising and eating healthy. I want to lose 18 pounds by either mid-july or beginning of august. So I have a couple of questions (please answer as many as you can :x)
1) Is that an attainable and healthy goal? (exercising for an hour and losing an assumed 600 calories, by brisk walking and jogging and cutting out junk foods... and on some occassions, softball)
2) Will my body become toned, so I don't have a huge belly/fat thighs?
3) Will my jean size go down, (currently I'm a 6)?
Thanks =)

Actually, let me rephrase - change your diet. Eat better. Up your protein intake and drop your carb intake. Eat every 3-4 hours to help speed up your metabolism. Make sure you drink lots of water.
As far as exercise, cardio is key for cutting fat, but if you want to tone, you need to do more than just that.
I was your height and weight last year, and now I'm down to 125 - but I'm skinnier than I was when I was about 115. It's all muscle mass.
That's another thing - remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Watch your SIZE...not your weight. Weight is just a number on a scale. Size is what really matters.
With your plan, I can't guarantee that your jean size will go down. If you alter your diet and figure out an exercise program (including cardio) to gain lean muscle, you will shrink - therefore, your jean size will go down.
Losing 18 pounds in a month and a half is a little iffy...I wouldn't set a time goal if I were you. It could discourage you, if you don't near your goal in enough time.
Okay, summary:
Good diet + full workout program = your goal =)
Try to time your workouts so they last about an hour to an hour and a half. Any more than that is probably overkill if you've never worked out before.
Use light weights and high reps. You'll get the results you want.
Good luck!

And yes, your pants size will definitely go down at least one size. It really depends upon your bone structure....if you have really big bones, you won't drop as many jeans sizes. If you have small bones, the difference will be like WHOA. I have tiny bones......a while back, I put on 5 pounds and I increased a whole pants size. nichole054 answered Monday May 28 2007, 9:43 pm: you would probally get close if you stick to your plan of excercising and not eating so much junk food. and it would be good to drink alot of water. im not sure exactly if it helps but ive been told if you drink like 8 or 10 glasses a day you can burn 300 cal. thats like half of what you want to lose right? you can also do wall squats wich help lose your butt and thighs.
and curl ups would help the belly and thats all i could think of and it might help if time to time you ran a little. [ nichole054's advice column | Ask nichole054 A Question ]
