Would you report workplace bullying

Posted Tuesday December 11 2018, 1:54 pm

I work at a fairly small company and there's this one girl who is super loud and everyone always talks about her when she's either off or even just walked out of the room.
They say that she's lazy and clingy, and it happens every single day and even on private group chats. I don't join in because I feel like it's nasty but I hate how bitchy people are. Is this something I could raise with a manager or will that make them turn on me?

Conflicted feelings over two girls

Posted Sunday December 9 2018, 10:04 pm

Hello!

So, I need some advice on how to determine my feelings for two people. These two people are girls (I am a guy, 16), and they are both in the category that I consider romantic interest. I'll try to be brief, but it's important to know the context. The most important bit is the last paragraph and the 2 questions after.

The first (we'll call her Cat) was my first romantic interest ever. I met her in my Freshman year of High School, and I adored everything about her. Cat was a distant friend the first Semester because we didn't have any classes together, but she became a very close friend in the second Semester up to the point that we "dated" for about a month. I use those quotes because we never ...

how do i deal with studying courses that i don't want

Posted Tuesday December 4 2018, 6:46 pm

Hey , so i am a computer science major who's passionate about programming and software. However, i hate studying any other courses besides what i like. Like right now , I'm studying Discrete mathematics ,which I'm failing . A lot of rage in growing inside of me ; i just wanna throw my notebook and computer at my professor. The question is how do i deal with this situation ; i have tried studying 7-9 hours daily for this course but it's too hard for me ; it's making me feel so obnoxious. I thought of dropping out of school but my parents refused. Those courses have nothing to do with programming absolutely nothing.

Math is ruining my college majors, what do I do?

Posted Monday October 15 2018, 4:29 pm

Bare with me, I am a good student. I get mostly high A's with a few high B's in between and then I'll wind up having to take a math course and struggling through the class. I just can't wrap my head around anything more complicated than Algebra. I keep trying to avoid math courses, but things like physics, micro/macroeconomics, and calc keep popping up as a required part of my major.

I've changed majors twice already because although I did great in the core classes, I couldn't handle the advanced math classes. Now I'm running into the same problem again. I really want to be in something healthcare/science related, but it all winds up circling back around to really complicated math.

I'm starting to feel like I...

Should I put it on my resume?

Posted Sunday October 14 2018, 3:59 pm

To make a long story short, I've been working at a strip club as a waitress for going on 9 months soon. At first I had also been working a second job as a medical claims associate, but two jobs and college proved to be too difficult and I was making way more at the strip club and able to take time off from there as needed for classes so I left my medical job.

My question is, should I put my waitressing job on my resume to show that I am currently working and that I haven't been unemployed or is it too unprofessional?

Advice on changing jobs and moving

Posted Saturday October 13 2018, 2:18 pm

Hi there! My question is more so for people who hire teachers, but any advice is appreciated! This is my second year teaching full-time. Before this, I worked in a tutoring center and I taught ESL part-time. But, I've had two years of experience as a classroom teacher. Both of these, however, have been at different schools.

I left the first school because I was promised a raise and it was not granted to me. Normally, I don't make decisions based off of finances only, but my salary was less than $30,000 and I live in a city where the cost of living is relatively high. I am now at a school that I like everything is great. I really enjoy my job. But, I want to leave the city because it is much much too expensive for me. At my pr...

Not making friends in school

Posted Tuesday October 9 2018, 5:41 pm

In this year of school, I know close to nobody. It’s been over a month and I haven’t really communicated with new people at all. I don’t have any people to talk to. Since it’s such a big environment I’m in too, I don’t see people regularly. I feel like everyone already has their friends, so I’d intrude if I talked to them, or got the courage to. And people that are alone usually are off doing something else and looking busy. I know clubs usually help and I’m figuring that out as of right now, so that’s really my last hope. How can I just...make friends?

Am I overeacting or are my roommates extremely rude?

Posted Tuesday August 28 2018, 12:46 am

I live in a 4/4 student housing apartment where every room is rented out to a different student. In August I had 2 new roommates move in after the old ones moved out and I feel like they're being very rude and breaking common sense roommate rules.

For example, Every Sunday they invite a three to four people over and watch movies with the volume turned up very loud until midnight. Every night they seem to be up making loud noises until 12 and then they congregate in the kitchen and living room sometimes until 2 or 3am. During the day they seem to constantly be in the kitchen or living room too and I feel like I'm locked in my room all day and all night (minus when I'm working) because they've taken over and never seem to stay...

My driving instructor keeps criticizing everything I do?

Posted Friday August 24 2018, 8:50 pm

So I’ve only had 4 driving lessons and I have 6 more. My driving instructor critizes everything I do. He says I don’t listen to him and that I’m not watching my surroundings even thoughI am. I always listen to him but when I do multiple mistakes it’s a problem. Mind you I don’t get to practice at home because we only have one car and my dad uses it for work from 7am to 7pm and when he’s home I’m at work. The only time i get to practice is during my driving lessons. Also my driving lessons are once a week. However he always expects me to know everything but I feel like I’m not improving because of how spaced out my lessons are. Today he said I’m not controlling the car meanwhile he’s holding the steering wheel, he won’...

Hey , so I'm a 21 years old who just moved out by himself and started living independently ; i used to live with my dad 3 months ago but due to excessive amounts of arguments/fights , i moved out. The issue that I'm having is that i have no friends or someone to hang out with. That's what i need the most ; i focus on work and college(skipped this semester) too much but i need time to relax and enjoy life . How do i go about making new friends ; I live in Queens,NY which is impossible to make friends. I've tried dating apps but realized they were

Boyfriend wants to smoke weed, I hate it.

Posted Monday May 7 2018, 11:32 am

Hello, I’m 23/f and my boyfriend is 25. Next month is our three year anniversary so after this whole thing is done, I really would prefer to not see “just break up with him,” that may be what it comes down to but I would like to hear other options and others opinions which is why I’m coming here.

About 10 years ago, I found weed in my dad’s dresser. I know to some people, weed wouldn’t be that big of a deal but I was young and it killed me - the man I look up to, the best man I knew smoked weed. Ever since then, I haven’t been as close to him. I was always daddy’s little girl, I was with him all the time and now I just can’t respect him that much anymore. I’ve seen him lie to my mom about smoking it, I’v...

Bossy co-worker

Posted Monday May 7 2018, 8:47 am

I have a co-worker who is very bossy to me and talks down to me. The issue is that she is my superior and delegates much of my work but the way she does it is becoming extremely controlling and rude. I feel that she is on a power trip and over-stepping her bounds in terms of how to handle me. I feel like I’m becoming this puppy dog following orders and it’s very humiliating and invasive to my personal space. I want to calmly confront her next time she treats me this way but the problem is that we work in the same area as my boss and I feel that it would be awkward to do this in front of my boss. Also my boss has sort of been acting this way too and treating my co-worker this way so I don’t think she would be on my side, so to speak. T...

How to be louder at work

Posted Monday April 9 2018, 2:46 pm

I'm in my early 20s, and am in a job that I love. I'm always told I'm good at my job, I enjoy it and I feel I am doing well.
The one thing that is holding me back and is acting like a barrier which I can't seem to overcome is my confidence.
I am confident I am doing a good job, but I am also very quiet at work . I'm naturally introverted and struggle to join in as it's quite a loud office.
I get on well with my colleagues and they respect me but sometimes I wish I could show my fun self a bit more and not be so quiet and serious!
I want to join in with the banter so to speak but am to shy to do so. Newbies who have only been there a week / month are quite loud and can join one straight away. How can I be like them?

This girl keeps taking pictures of me

Posted Friday February 16 2018, 5:18 pm

This girl is like 3 grades below me so she only recognises me from my social media. Yesterday, she was literally fangirling about seeing me. She only ever calls me by my Instagram name in real life.
Anyway she was like "Oh my god a celebrity, please be my boyfriend." At this point I wanted to say "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" but just ignored everything. Then this boy from her grade walks out and tells her to stop being mean. I appreciated that part, but the part he said after that left me quite offended. He said "Look at him, do you ever think he'll get a girlfriend?

The thing is I actually have a genuine crush on a girl. However I feel as if I've ruined my chances now because this guy is best friends....

What should I do about my bad work situation?

Posted Tuesday February 13 2018, 9:35 pm

I've been working for a company since late November. I like the job and my manager, but when it comes to my coworkers I'm having a lot of problems.

When I first started I was trained with somebody else who was really scummy. In short he was breaking every rule you can think of and pretty soon he got fired for it. Well it turned out that he was referred for the job by one of the workers who was already there and he got so mad that they kept me and got rid of his friend that he spread rumors about me and turned everybody against me. I talked to my manager about it (he's a manager from out of state) and he told me to just ignore them and keep my head up so I did.

Then they hired another guy who was relentlessly se...
