Considering dropping out...

Posted Tuesday November 7 2017, 12:16 pm

Im currently a freshman, enrolled at a 2 year university college campus. I havent paid for anything out of pocket, it was covered by financial aid. I thought i was going to go into music, but realized its not my priority anymore and had an existential crisis where i broke down crying because i dont know what i want to do anymore, and im having a hard time with school. Not that its hard, im just not motivated. I attend class, but dont do the work. Im 18 and just moved out of my parents' house. Im only able to work 20 hours a week (housekeeping is during the day) and need to get another job, but that'll leave me with even less time/motivation for school work. Im seriously considering dropping at semester. I know its hard to go back when you l...

Mocking me for minding my business

Posted Saturday October 28 2017, 12:14 am

so, i usually don't mingle in other's business because i'm just not interested in it .
most of the people in my class and the other class talk trash about me just because i'm quiet. and i'll make this clear i'm not a nerd xD .
i only talk when the other person talks to me or when i need something , other than that i don't speak much . i just sit quietly doing my stuff
but, these people/my classmates when they talk trash about me and also try to ridicule me it kinda makes me angry but i'm just not giving into my emotions and trying to remain calm
i honestly don't know how long i can do this because if this keeps happening i'm afraid that i might start a fight.
because the stuff they say really makes me angr...

Should I resign from my position within a club?

Posted Wednesday October 18 2017, 2:02 pm

To make a long story short I decided to join a club at college and was given the position of treasurer on the exec-board. I joined because the organization was aligned with my career goals and I wanted to be part of something in my community.

Well now I'm a couple months into it and not really feeling it like I was before. Only about 8 people showed up to our first meeting and nobody really seemed too enthused about it. I also didn't realize that we needed to raise money and it's a lot of money ($1700) per person. I don't think that's realistic at all for college students. We just started our first fundraising activity and it's like people couldn't care less about it. I've been going out of my way to help and to get other ex...

Best master program if I want to pursue both a business and doctor career?

Posted Sunday October 15 2017, 9:04 pm

What's the best master program for someone who wants to have the available option of becoming a doctor/work in a health field, running a product line/making contributions to an enterprise, or both?

Public Health, Business Administration with Healthcare concentration, Health Administration, or Healthcare Administration?

I applied to some campuses that offers those listed graduate programs, and I'm watching out for those that will ultimately accept me or not. Would I have more opportunities to possibly branch out into business related field too if I've ended up doing the latter two masters?

stressed about a presentation

Posted Wednesday September 20 2017, 8:51 pm

I have a presentation coming up for a class (university). I have always had a decent amount of anxiety surrounding presentation, though not an anxiety disorder or anything. I also have a slight stutter, which gets worse when talking in groups of people. I can deal with it, but it exists.

It's a group presentation, and one of the girls in my group is someone I know, I guess you'd say we're friends. We had the following conversation:

Her: You're not a nervous speaker when you're presenting, are you?

Me: Um, yeah, kinda

Her: *dramatic sigh* You're going to make us all lose marks

I don't really know how to deal with this. She was being completely serious. She doesn't see...

Does it seem at all realistic to be able to go to Japan for a semester?

Posted Saturday September 16 2017, 1:39 am

I'm 21 and I really want to go to Japan for a semester before I graduate. I've been learning about China and Japan through Youtube videos for around 4 years now off and on and know a little bit of Japanese, but honestly not enough to have a conversation. However, I'd like to think if I immerse myself in their culture that I could learn more. I'm a Junior now at a University and found out recently they have a program with a college in Japan where you can go there to learn for a semester and use the credits from the college there back at my home university.

I really would absolutely love to do this, but I'm worried it may not be realistic. While they do guarantee housing and tuition, it looks like they probably don't supply a m...

Hurricane cancelled classes, now im so far behind I'm panicking?

Posted Thursday September 14 2017, 9:47 pm

My family was in the direct path of Hurricane Irma and our power was out from last Friday until today. Before that we spent days and days preparing for the storm. My college administrators said they understand what students are going through, but the teachers obviously don't as they're still assigning all the work we missed instead of cancelling some assignments. For example I now have one teacher who assigned 6 assignments all due in one day. Others are assigning two weeks of work due within five days.

Now I'm so far behind with my homework I can't possibly get it all done and all of it was homework that had to be done online with digital textbooks so without power I couldn't do it. I already have mild anxiety, but at this p...

Can I change my academic program/major if I failed in college?

Posted Saturday July 29 2017, 7:17 pm

A couple of years ago I took a bunch of classes and only passed one class. I got overwhelmed with all of the assignments, some were hard and I had bad anxiety. They told me that passing that one class saved me and now I'm on academic probation. I want to take a different course now. Will they let me change?

I was thinking about enrolling in the CNA program next year, and I was curious to see how difficult it is. The on,y thing I'm kind of worried about is math. Is the math really hard? How is the class? Any information on this would be helpful.

Continuing Studies

Posted Sunday July 9 2017, 8:26 pm

Female, 21 years old
Hello,

I am one year and a half away from graduating from my Bachelor's Degree in English Linguistics and am considering whether to do a Master's Degree, or do a second Bachelor. I know the most convenient path would be the Master's, possibly with a PhD behind (depending on your goals). However, the reason why I want to do a second Bachelor is because there are many more things I want to explore and do. Studying language is very interesting, and there are various things I wish to learn about it, but there are other fields I would like to dabble in, as vague as that sounds.

My problem is that there are too many things I want to study, and I don't have the time nor money to do it all...

I really want to get into a Uni, but old schools are holding my transcript?

Posted Saturday July 8 2017, 1:30 am

Please help, I'm at my wit's end! I really want to transfer to a University, but my current college and my old college are both holding my official transcripts. I didn't know it, but apparently I owe my first school $1,250 and my current school $1,177.

The first college claims I broke a contract with them by transferring to my current college and that I have to pay them in full before they'll release my transcript to the University.

The second says I owe them for summer housing, which I thought my scholarships and grants would pay, but since those won't be disbursed until August I would need to pay them out of pocket to get my transcript released until them.

That's $2500 I don't have and nobody i...

I've already transferred colleges twice, and I want to transfer again?

Posted Wednesday June 21 2017, 7:32 am

To make a long story short I'm at my 3rd college and I want to transfer colleges again.

The first college I went to for a few months and it was one of those dumb little for profit colleges that have commercials on tv, I went there for a year and then transferred to a private college. I loved that college, but unfortunately started dating somebody there who became physically and mentally abusive and I wound up with a restraining order against him and he was forced to move away. I don't want to return to that college now though because I feel like it will only trigger horrible memories.

My current college started off great...until I joined a sorority, became VP, and then dropped from the sorority all in one year....

Have you ever been asked for your college GPA when applying for a ob?

Posted Friday April 28 2017, 9:02 pm

I went to college late, starting at age 20. The reason for this was because I worked for a few years first to figure out what I wanted to do.

Now I'm 2 and a half years into college and my GPA has fallen from a 3.8 to a 3.2, but I'm still hoping that I can raise it to a 3.5 . My issue is I'm bad at the math classes in my major, but fine at everything else. I also have some classes with a teacher who doesn't believe in giving out A's so I usually wind up with a high B in her classes. She's a great professor though and she teaches quite a few courses of the courses in my major and to be honest even if I could take those courses with somebody else, I wouldn't.

Anyways, I've never applied for a job before where th...

Procrastination

Posted Tuesday November 22 2016, 2:24 am

So I have always had massive issues with procrastination, but never as bad as it has been in the past few months. I have also always gotten away with it, because I procrastinated until I had exactly as much time as I needed to get my stuff done quickly and still do well on it.

That's about to change. I was assigned an essay in September, due tomorrow. I left it until this weekend, thinking I would spend all day Saturday on it. WRONG! I woke up feeling shitty from lack of sleep and didn't get anything done all day, and proceeded to procrastinate sleeping so that I was exhausted Sunday as well and didn't get anything done...but still didn't sleep as much as I should have

Now its almost 2:30 am and I still have 4 ...

Need to give a presentation, but I'm an idiot.

Posted Sunday November 13 2016, 1:17 pm

17, F, (USA)

Now before anyone jumps on my for calling myself an idiot, it is because of the topic I decided to choose.

Allow me to explain, I am in a small sociology class at my local Tech-College. I am the only one at my location, and the teacher is often at other locations and teaches via conference call esque video feed to all the different locations. Anyway, a few weeks ago she was at my location and she was explaining our group project which is a presentation given on the last day of class.

Since I am the only student at my location, I chose to do it myself, rather than mess with trying to contact people who live 40 minutes away. She asked everyone what topic they chose to do it on, and wh...
