I contacted the red cross for volunteer opportunities and they said that they only hire phlebotomist. I've applied and applied to numerous places and I keep getting denied. They want people with experience and I only have my classroom experience and my 2 week hospital externship. Its not enough. I'm getting declined by blood banks and everywhere else. (link)

I went to school as a Medical Assistant and too learned about Phlebotomy. I am not sure how much over the years they have changed the standards or what but I would go to any place you've applied for and talk to their HR representatives. Whether it is a hospital or a place who specializes in Phlebotomy. When you get to one of those places you could ask questions like "how come I keep getting rejected?" What can I do to improve or how could I get my foot in the door? I have had the same struggle as you and I was heartbroken. Another option is having your school as a source. They could help you network and help you keep up with clinical. I wish I had that option however my school went bankrupt. Make connections with your teachers and ask for advice as well. Volunteering is an excellent way as well since I did that at a local hospital but I did front desk. If you cannot get volunteer work with drawing blood than perhaps volunteer either elsewhere or maybe volunteer just to get your foot in the door. That way if you start volunteering at places you get to start meeting people in the filed and you can get to know them and start to network with people. One more option is trying to find an employment place where they could possibly help you finding a job medical related or whatever your interests are. I hate how bias places are for newly grads- I had a very hard time too. Don't give up. Glassdoor is a great site for job hunting, having your resume up on indeed as well and craigslist. I have found that Craigslist is more personable. Job fairs are an excellent source too especially when helping with resumes or to get advice from. I hope this helps- if not best of luck to you! Hospitals always have job fairs and look up job fairs in your area especially medical related.
Plus Veteran Affairs (government medical jobs) have them as well.
