I was just wondering why on instant messaging and on this site (actually alot on the internet) people type like this:
"Heyy whatsss upp??" or "I needd advicee aboutt myy boyfrienddddd."
They usually dont add like alot of letters except on IM though. I can understand why people shorten words, so they can type less, but why would people make themselves seem dumb by adding the last letter of a word 2-10 times? Is it like a trend, or am I missing some kind of secret? Thanks. (link)

Hun, it's a scary world out there...people just think it looks cool. If I were you I wouldn't get into the habit of doing that!
