is it true that you have to be really tall to be a model?

i asked this quesiton to some people and they said yes.. but some said you just have to be really tall if you wanna be a runway model..

what about normal models in magazines and stuff cause i'm 5'2" but i really wanna be a model and i don't know if i could be one since i'm so short=[

thanx! i'll rate high for nice, realistic answers =] (link)
To be a model, You have to be at least 5'7 or bare min of 5'5(5’5 only if a girl is under 18 years of age)and this is only for commercial print(magazines, catalogues, ect) and even then most clients would rather prefer the 5'9 + girls instead of the shorter ones.

It is not true that "you can be short" to do "face modeling" there is no such thing, from waist up, face only ect. You have to be above those requirements.

Now of course there are exceptions with everything in life. But remember if you do not fit in you must stand out in the best way possible. There must be something about you that makes people/clients go "Wow" if not, your a just another ordinary girl in the real world.

5'2 is extremely short. If you really want to achieve this, you need to work your ass off (any short girl who wants to model) you must have personality and that wow factor with your look and just the way you carry yourself, and confidence is number one!!! Don’t forget that!

I suggest you go out to agencies with a petite division and go to there open calls. Start from there and work your way up. This will not be easy and may seem impossible but there will always be people who bring you down,(the taller girls seem to do this very well, pretty much because they don’t like competition) so remember if you want to get into this business you literally have to be emotionally ready (no joke).

As an inspiring model, I am also short, and its even harder for me because im a guy and I must be taller then the girls (which most girls are in the 5’7-5’11 range). I’m 5'10 which is bare minimum for commercial print but luckily im still growing at 16. ive been out to casting and got a call back from ford models. Nothing is impossible, it may seem at first but remember, life has a brick wall you must climb over to succeed, as high as the wall may seem, people will try to pull you down and this is were you have to be strong and bring yourself to the top.
