So I just started a new theater camp, and my fellow cast members seem like so much fun! I really want to hang out with them, but I dont know how to approach them. I kinda just watch them have fun and laugh with them... but I want to be included, you know? Does anyone have any good advice of how to bond with them cause I have to say I'm pretty funny, and I think they would enjoy my company, but Im just a tad bit shy. btw, we are all in high school. Thanks! (link)
The best approach is the same in any new setting. Be yourself!
Try approaching someone who you think you would like to get to know and ask them for information or assistance. Almost everyone likes to be helpful and it will help break the ice. If you can't think of anything you need help with then try to be helpful to someone else (anyone who looks left out is a good starter). Alternately see if there is somewhere to socialize and invite someone to join you. I don't recommend breaking into a large group as a starting point as you may find yourself overlooked by the sheer numbers.

I just want to speculate here... I think that our teacher (high school) is going to pick a very big musical for next year in school. She's already done things like Oaklahoma!, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Sound of Music, and Beauty and the Beast. We need a musical with more girl parts than guy parts. What do you guys think that we might do? Oh, by the way, I already looked up Wicked, but it's on Broadway still, and I don't think anyone will be getting the rights to it anytime soon. Any thoughts would really be appreciated, as I've already talked to my family and friends about this, and they are bored to death with the subject! (link)
Depending on the sophistication of your school (and perhaps the prejudices of) you might want to consider Chicago as it contains a very large female cast and few males. It also provides a wide range of roles for character development. It is considered a bit risky for some schools

Can you be taught to sing if your voice isnt that bad anyways? If so them any advice would be great because i love broadway and musicals they are my passion so i am determined to learn to sing loud and well! (link)
Find a qualified vocal instructor who specializes in Musical Theatre training. You will find that louder is not always the correct way to use your voice but that good breath control will add volume to your singing. Louder sometimes results in damaging your vocal chords and not improving anything.
Also look for an amateur theatre group to get involved with. If you have a good vocal range and can project a positive personality, you may find yourself cast in a show which provides you with some free singing lessons. It will also help you to establish whether Musical Theatre is really what you wish to do.
