Yes it does take up minuts unless your on the same plan with the person like on the same account but if you go to T-Mobile its free mobile to mobile.

ok i was thinking of getting a ipod shuffle about how much songs does it hold how much does it cost and is it worth the money.

It can hold up t o a 150 songs...cost about 200 dollars and is honestly not worth it.
