Q: Hello, how are you? I'm in 8th grader who's currently applying to several "prep" schools and I'm extremely busy. I'm taking the January 28, 2006 SAT I test along with the ISEE and SSAT (entrance exams for the prep schools) sometime in the winter (probably in January also, not late as February). The problem is that I haven't started practicing/studying for ANY of the tests, and as you can see I'm starting to run out of time. (I have all the prep materials/books necessary to study with, by the way.) As I mentioned earlier, I'm really busy and after I finish my homework [late at night], I'm groggy and can't really think straight to study for the tests. I get about 6 to 6.5 hours of sleep on school nights. Also, ropping my extra-curriculars is simply not an option for me.
What can I do to make time to study for the tests? And staying organized/having good time management? I'd appreciate any suggestions/advice you have.
Thank you so much!

I hope this'll help with your exams...and best of luck with them :)
The most important thing is to find a really good place to study. This might mean studying in a place where its well-lit and quiet, with no disturbances.
But if your'e like me, where i've got a little sister and its pretty hard to study with her screaming in the background,I just go to the library, cos its quiet and cool :) You can do that too.
Making 'To do' lists is also a good idea. Like when I study, I alwas say to myself, 'Ok, this hour I'm going to study blah blah blah.' Small tasks are easier to tackle then HUGE-AS tasks. And then cross the stuff u study off your list with a big fat texta.
I was just wondering, can you ask your teacher for any past exam papers? Will she have any?? It can help you understand the kinds of stuff they might be asking in the exams. And I'm an audio learner, so I like to record my voice reading my notes into a tape recorder. But you might find visual aids better, like mind maps and tree diagrams.
I know it sounds a little nerdy but is it possible to do your homework @ school? In the library??
ok thats all the stuff about studying. now onto the big thing, which I still struggle with heaps...TIME MANAGEMENT. I fully agree with you keeping your extra curricular activities, it isnt good if you completely drop all these activities, cos sometimes you need a break from all that exam stress. :)
Making a study timetable is a good idea. Write down all the things you need to do each day
of the week, and how long you need for each, including time for enough sleep, relaxation and exercise. Find out the date of each exam and work out a study timetable leading up to them. Include tests that will help you identify gaps in your knowledge. This can give you some direction and help you focus on what to study each week or day.
And remember to take heaps of breaks as well :) Get up, move around, and GET AWAY FROM YOUR DESK AT LEAST EVERY 50 MIN FOR 10 MIN. It'll help you
concentrate and learn better.
Hope we helped. Good luck with your exams and dont stress!!

Okay, we'll start with your hair first..anyone looks good with bangs, it all depends on how the bangs are done. With your side bang all you need to know are a couple of things...make sure the bang isn't a straight cut, give ur bang personality especially if your bang is going to be parted to the side. If it already hasn't been done, cut your bang to and angle so that the hair of your bang is longer in length furhter down your face than it is above your ear..to do so make sure your hair is down. If you're not too sure of what I'm explaining, Just think of Hilary Duff's du.The way her hair is cut, can make a good side bang(go to hilaryduff.com, the official website to get more details). Now just to let you know side bangs(the majority of the time)only look right in a dry or gelled up ponytail(preferrably higher than low). Also, a little tip, when you do have a bang, make sure you "bump"it, in other words, slightly curl the bang, and to even out the whole du, curl your ponytail or bump it.
For the face..Acne can be a problem and discouraging, so to solve that problem, Proactive! Find a dermatologist and ask him/her about proactive and see what that dermatologists suggests for your skin type, because not all skin creams work for everyone! But if you're looking for an easy alternative, washing your face gently twice a day with mild soap(pat dry) will do the job! And if you really wanna make a difference, Drink lots and lots of water! As a matter of a fact~Ditch the pop and heavy greasy foods, and oils because those only clog up your pores which do create acne~
Makeup!!!Okay, makeup isn't necessarily the great alternative to "make acne disappear" but only do we wish!LOL~Okay, anything NEUTROGENA is definitely dermatologist recommended so therefore you won't have to worry about developing a pimple on your nose while you're patting a foundation on your face! Just go to neutrogena.com and click on cosmetics and you'll find all types of makeup to choose from~and you won't have to go out you way to find these cosmetics because they're located at your nearest drugstore. Now, when I'm running late to work or school, before I leave the house I never leave without my mascara and bronzer..Now, I don't know if you haven't heard about this "oh so true" fact, but tanning, in the long run does cause wrinkling and skin cancer and it does discolor your skin, and makes it dry, so yea, you might look awesome now with a tan but later your gonna hate the fact that you even tanned ONCE!(if you want more info on this, visit the website www.my.webmd.com/content/article/65/72793.htm?z=4209_00000_8003_to_05 and you can learn about that and more...so stick with a bronzer for your body and a copressed bronzer for your face. If you want any of my detailed tips for make-up just e-mail me again.
Clothes!!!
TIP 1: Bright clothes..Stick out this spring or even now! from orange to yellows and lime greens...but don't go overboard, you don't wanna look like a solid popsicle! If your gonna pull a whole orange outfit make sure it's definitely not a suit!LOL
TIP 2: Denim jackets and blazers~super cute you can dress these up or down anytime!
TIP 3: Button-ups! These are so trendy and you can dress these up or down also.
TIP 4: Mini-skirts with leg-warmers or with a cute designed knee-length sock the type of shoe to go with it shoe be a petit flat jimmy~click on this link to get an idea http://www.pony.com/United_States/Archive/index.htm and click under WOMEN'S" and click Mexico "77~~ something sleek and slender will do jus fine!
TIP 5: Flouncy knee-length skirts, those go great with just a simple sandle
TIP 6: Heels, Heels, HEELS!! Try a sexy kitten heel such as the one in this link www.candiesfootwear.com/cg bin/SoftCart.exe/STORE/FAST/KITTEY.htm?L+candies+jgmz1772+1108196324 that would go very cute with a nice jean!
NO NO'S
1: Different dressed up patterns-never mix-match any patterns!
2: Putting together two different name brand clothing is not acceptable, choose one name brand and you can match that with a non-name brand clothing
3: Chipped "over-due" nails! Get them done! Don't be lazy!
4: War-tanks..Jacked up shoes...if you've been thru alot with your favorite shoe, it might be a great idea to let them go and get a new pair!
HAVING CONFIDENCE CAN REALLY MAKE YOU STAND OUT. JUST REMEMBER THAT!!
