i'm a sophomore and i'm taking ap chemistry this year. there are a few other sophomores in my class but most are juniors who have already taken regular or honors chemistry so it's a lot easier for them. anyway i'm completely lost already, and it's only been a week of school. i literally sit in class having NO IDEA what is going on. there's all this mole and math buisiness that i've never even heard of, and they expect us to know it. plus all the other sophomores get it a lot more than i do.. after the teacher helps me i get it a little better, but on my own its horrible and i can't see how i could ever pass this class. i don't know if it will get any easier to understand as time goes by but what if it doesn't, i'm sure it'll just get harder. and on top of that this year my school has made it extremely difficult to drop a class, it's this huge long process and they might not even let me. i just feel so overwhelmed and i don't want my whole year to be dreading chemistry and then failing the exam. should i drop the class? any advice from people who have experience with ap chem on whether it will get any easier?

any advice whatsoever.
i reallllly need it.
thanks in advance. (link)
Okay, well I've taken AP Chem but I took honors chemistry before I took it. Honestly, I think taking AP chemistry with absolutely no chemistry experience will be very, very hard. But however, it can be done. With some help from the teacher and maybe you can find someone in the class that knows what's going on to help you out with homework and maybe tutor you on the weekends, you CAN pass the class and even do very well on the exam. Also, it may be helpful to go to a big bookstore like Barnes and Noble and buy the SparkNotes packet of information for AP Chem, it's about $15.

This is all I remember about the book:

This one boy is like kidnapped and he thinks its his real father and he raped the kid or something. and he kidnaps other kids too. so he reads this old newspaper about a boy that went missing and he decides to take up his identity to escape from his father. but at the end it turns out it really was him he just suppressed it. I'm not completely sure, but it sounds a lot like Counterfeit Son by Elaine Marie Alphin. Let me know if thats the book :)
