Can you be forgiven for being gay? Is it really a sin? What if you just want to try it and see what happens are you going to be penalized for that? Can someone help me asap.. these questions are for a friend who really needs it (link)
just wanted to add one comment to address the answers that state you shouldn't have to ask forgiveness for being left handed, so why for being gay?

well, people can be "born gay" in the sense that we are all, since the fall of Adam and Eve, born with a sin nature. we aren't taught to sin. we just do. it's in our nature to sin until we are saved. so, in that sense, the sin of homosexuality maybe in someone's nature at birth. that in no way makes it right. we are all born wrong. that's why we need to be saved. i was born with a tendency to lie. that doesn't make lying right. it is sin. i had to repent and be saved and God had to help me to quit lying. the same with being gay. being born in sin doesn't make sin right. we all need to be forgiven for sins and sin natures we were born with.

how do you know if you're a true christian? i mean, i believe in God and that Jesus died for our sins and i go to church and pray every night, but i also lie frequently and stuff, and sometimes i feel like, intimidated by God?idk, its weird. but sometimes i get scared about like, revalation and stuff and i feel like theres a chance i wont go to heaven, even though i deffinetly believe in God and im not sure if i'm really a christian. can someone help ?
thanks (link)
you're not alone. i think every christian has probably gone through these types of doubts.

so let's see ... how to know you're saved.

First, you gotta believe Jesus died for you and paid the price for your sins. you do.
you gotta confess this faith to other people. you did.
you gotta repent. that means be willing to turn away from sin. (that doesn't mean we don't sin - the bible says that any of us that claim we don't sin are liars and the truth isn't in us) - it just means when we do sin, we have to be willing to turn away from it.
you should notice that you don't really want to sin anymore. you still do from time to time, but you're sorry (not just about the consequences, but that it happened in the first place)
if you will let Him, God will give you a clean heart and your wants will be different.

so, now that you know what repentance is, have you repented? if yes, then trust in Jesus and know that it is a process to become Christ-like. no one ever gets there instantly.

if not, that could be what's missing. repent and let God give you a clean heart.

Roman 10:9-10, Romans 6 (whole chapter), Luke 13:3 are all good Bible passages to look up.

may God bless and lead you on your Christian journey.
