Okay, well I'm not the most popular person in my grade, I'm average, not a nerd but not popular. And, there's this popular girl that always hangs out with me at the football games, and I don't know why. Her name is Mackenzie, and at school, she's usually making fun of the fact that I'm dating Dane, or she's completely ignoring me. I don't even want to be friends with a popular person, it could lead to me being popular and then I'd lose all of my real friends. Besides, I don't want to be someone I'm not. So does anyone know why she's all the sudden hanging out with me? (link)

She could just be doing it to get to you, or make fun of you. But she also might be doing it because she really wants to be your friend and she's just afriad of what her other friends might think about her hanging out with you. Give it time.
