Actually, this could be a bad thing. Yes, a woman's vagina stretches; but it also has an end. That is, it doesn't just go on forever and ever. If you hit the cervix, especially really hard (like you would if you were having sex) that could REALLY hurt.
Imagine stubbing your toe. Now imagine stubbing it over and over, repeatedly until someone got off on it. That's basically what your girlfriend could have been experiencing.
However, it's not necessarily a bad thing. Just don't put it all the way in all the time. Sex is for her pleasure too, not just yours.
