I'm 14 and I've been cutting for a few years. I really want to stop but I keep failing. Does anyone have some good advice? (link)

At thirteen was when I started self-harming. It's not a healthy way to cope. At all. I know it numbs the emotional pain. That it seems physical pain is easier to deal with than emotional. And I am so proud of you for trying to stop. That's the first step. What I used to do to try to stop self-harming were these few things:
-Hold an ice cube against my wrist; that would give me the pain sensations that I loved from self-harming.
-write down the things I live for on my wrist (where I want to cut) with different color Sharpies.
-doodle on my wrist (where I want to cut) of different sorts of things with those Sharpies.
I also would advise you to confide in a therapist or counselor. Or you can e-mail me at poeticpagan@mail.com, I'm a great listener. c:
