my moms best friends son is 14/m (hes going into 9th grade) and we went to dinner with them tonight and he was really quiet and while all the adults were talking and all the kids were running around he picked up his knife and started kinda sawing at the back of his hand and the second he saw that i saw what he was doing, he stopped. and later that night he asked if he could walk home to practice his guitar before they all got home (we are neighbors and we all live close to where we were having dinner but not close enough that most people would walk home right before a big thunderstorm) and when his dad said that they were all going home anyway he looked kind of mad. so i guess i have two questions, can you cut the back of your hand (like cutting suicide wise) and should i be worried about him like what should i do
please answer me really soon because if something happened we would all be heartbroken
and p.s. his mom said that he was never upfront snotty, but he never likes going places with his family and stuff and that he was doing well that night. does that mean anything?

Yes you can cut the back of your hand but it wont do much damage to you only because there is no vain or like major arteries and everything and yes you should be a little worried only because if he cuts his the back of his hands then he might cut some thing else beside that...
