OMG, this happened between my two of my bffs. You need to ask yourself two basic questions:
1) how much do you like him vs. how much does your friend like him
2) is this guy THE one for you? the ONLY one? or, will you forget him in a few months?
if you think you will get over him pretty quickly, going for him now and risking your friendship is a stupid thing to do. Friendships - espcially "bestest" ones- are for life. Think about having that versus a guy who will only last a couple weeks or months.
Also think about you BEST friend, who is OBSESSED with him. Would you really want to hurt her? If you like this guy enough to risk all of that, go for it. But if not, I'd try finding a new crush. And absolutely throw yourself into getting them together, and when they finally go out, try to be happy about it. Let the jealousy melt away. It causes bad things to happen. Those two bffs I was talking about, well, one of them got the other one to dump the guy, and it turned into a huge mess. Something to think about.

ok, so the story starts off with me meeting this guy named dustin on myspace
so we meet in person, cause my friend knew him and so we started talking last august. (of 2006)
so we have a tonn in common. only thing is, we come from different kinds of families. like his mother and father are divorced and they could give a shit about him. and my parents are very caring and a lil over protective sometimes.
so we havent kissed for three months (more like..never)
he says he really cares about me and he will always care about me. only now it doesnt feel like it.
and he likes this other girl(lizzie) and he hooked up with her today.
hes telling me stuff like he still loves me and cares about me but its getting really hard for me to believe him
has anyone been through this before?

Ehmagawd you serisouly need to forget about him. The phrase "I love you" should be taken really seriously. If he hasn't even kissed you yet, and he's hooking up with other girls, but he's telling you he loves you, he's probably using you. He might even be using you to get Lizzie jealous. So don't listen to him when he says stuff like that. If you want to find out if he really cares about you, dump him and see how he reacts. At the moment he doesn't deserve you. And relax - this is like a classic situation. Guy meets girl. They both come from totally different backrounds, but they still find out they have a lot in common and like each other alot. Girl finds out guy is a total jerk. Solution: girl dumps guy. Start with that. If you're finding it hard to forget about him, tell me and I'll give more advice :)
