I am 17, living in New England.
I have a brother (6) and a sister (11) and two parents who I get along with really well. (it's not always easy!)
I like writing poetry and music. I play piano and guitar (and a little bass). I love reading, shopping, and being stupid with my friends and my boyfriend.
I like giving advice because I love writing, connecting with people, and sharing things I've learned.
Ask me anything and I'll try and help! :-)
Some areas of expertise: long distance relationships (my boyfriend is 3 states away at college!), family stuff (I have learned how to tame parents, haha!), messy breakups, makeup tips, and anything about clothes!

OK-- I have a few midterms coming up. I already did one (English) and that's out of the way. I'll specifically focus on SS- since that's the next one to come up. Well, Im really nervous on how my grade will turn out on my Midterm. What are good study tips that will help me be prepared? What are ways to make myself crack down and actually study?? How can I make myself go in feeling confident?? There is a website that the teacher made with several 'midterm' quizzes, and I use that sometimes but it doesn't always help.
P.S. I really don't care for the teacher!!
Thank You!! (link)

Use the resources you have, such as the midterm quizzes. At least give them a shot.
Make yourself flash cards, your own quizzes, and use learning tools (like remembering names or dates by connecting them to something you already know. For example, remembering that the capital of Belgium is Brussels. What might you think of when you hear the word Belgium? I always think of waffles. Then I remind myself that the capital is a food...but not waffles...Brussel sprouts! Get the idea?)
Lastly, check out this website : http://homeworktips.about.com/
Good luck!
P.S. Don't let how you feel about the teacher keep you from succeeding. This is your life and you have to live with your grade, not your teacher.

Square roots suck.
The only way I've found helpful is to use a calculator. Any Texas Instruments calculator with scientific functions is good. The traditional method for finding imperfect square roots is just about impossible. Use the radical sign (looks kind of like a checkmark) and then enter the number. Press enter or equals and you will have a long decimal. There ya go!
If you are looking to simplify a radical, take the perfect squares out of it. Put them on the outside. A site that explains this in more detail is here: http://oakroadsystems.com/math/expolaws.htm
Good Luck!
