My name is Elise. I have been on and off advicenators for years, since I was 11 (I know... I lied about my age). I always seemed to love helping others, with problems they might not want to ask their friends about. Even if it's just something they're interested in, or need a second opinion on, I love to help. I also have had my fair share of problems, and many have helped me. This is my way of giving back, and this is what I like to do.

i have this state of mind that makes me view and act differently against myself. like i feel like i'm an awkard, less than adult, not special, not my best, and anxious. i want to be myself and my best but because i was hurt in the past, i can't get past what i feel and i feel incompetent to doing things. i set myself up for failure. is there anyway i can stop thinking in this kind of way?

I think a lot of people think that way sometimes too. I also think that way, all the time... but like you I'm sure, I dont do it on purpose. You have to do anything you can to make yourself know that you are only thinking the things you are because you're telling yourself to, not because they're true. Remember that most people are insecure and incompetent but it helps just beleiveing... thats makes it better. Think about all the outcomes of a situation, than think how common each one is. You should start finding that you are fine! =)
