Here's something to remember: Most guys would prefer if YOU made the first move.
A school dance is the perfect time to show people your fun & flirty side (Especially if half of the boys have never been introduced to you before and don't think you're a "weirdo")Spot a hottie from your brother school? Act confident (...even if your not) and start dancing near him. If he doesn't come over to you after a little bit, make the first move and ask if he wants to dance. Make sure you do this during a FAST song. Slow songs are mainly reserved for the couples! If he turns you down, don't let it discourge you because he's probobly an a**hole anyway. If he says yes, don't start to get flustered because the hard part is already over with. You have him and now you just have to keep him. The good thing is: If it doesn't go well, you won't have to see him around school and if it does go well, the guys from your school will see this happening and think of you in a different light.

No offense, but I think you are a little too young to be "desperate" for love. My only advice is don't be somebody you are not. If you have to act different to get a man, then the guys you attract are only liking the person you are pretending to be. Not YOU. And if you dress differently or more provacatively, you will just be getting the wrong type of attention. Men will want you for your body & not for what's inside. My sister is dating this guy, and he has a really hott, so sweet, caring, brother my age and i really wanna go out with him...But I'm too afraid to ask him out. I don't know why I'm so scared. It's funny because I tend to have the same problem with guys, but when I'm with my friends..I'm very energetic and everything. I sugguest one of these things:
1. Send him an email asking him out
2. Get one of your friends to drop the note in his locker or something
And for your last question: There really isn't much you can do about shyness. My best friend used to be shy and then she starting dating and it has helped her become more comfortable with guys. Good luck gurl!
