I'm a girl, 15, generally use good grammar (yay!), and a huge fan of sarcasm though I know when it's appropriate and when it isn't. Politics, psychology, philosophy, and history all fascinate me. The music I like usually falls under the genres of psychedelic and classic rock. I hate rap. And George W. Bush. I like giving advice because it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that other people are crazier than I am.
Ask away, I'll try to answer anything!
advice
What do you think is better to get? An ipod or another mp3 player. I heard that a zen micro is really good. Does anyone have them? What is the advantage and do you enjoy using it. Or does anyone else have something different that they think is better?
I have 6 gb iPod mini, which is now probably obsolete cos of the iPod nanos.
I really really like mine. Its very easy to use, has handy functions like a sleep timer, alarm clock, notes, and calender, and a couple of games, and is aesthetically pleasing
I'm not too sure if I'd reccomend getting one though. First off, the battery life isn't all that great, it runs out quite fast. It also depends what kind of a music listener you are-- do you have lots of albums or do you mostly download songs? If you just download you don't need much space because the file size isn't very big. In retrospect I would have gotten something with a greater capacity because I think I'm gonna run out of space soon. People also say that you're just paying half the price for the brand name, I dont know though.
So basically... buy an iPod if you value conveniance and aesthetics. If those aren't too important I'd look for something else.
:)
does anyone wanna list names they like?? it could be almost anything but no metal stuff. i'm not really into that. basically anything else is fine.
thanks!!

Bruce Springsteen- Born to Run, Born in the USA, I'm Goin' Down, Brilliant Disguise
Grateful Dead- Touch of Grey, Truckin', Casey Jones, Estimated Prophet
ELO- Do Ya, Strange Magic, Don't Bring Me Down
Placebo- Every Me Every You
Coldplay- Fix You, The Scientist, A Rush of Blood to the Head, Clocks

i need a list of a LOT of rock bands. dont ask why.
over 5-6 is a five. rock bands, but not gay bands like simple plan and good charolette.
The Doors, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Velvet Underground, Grateful Dead, AC/DC, Guns n' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Allman Brothers Band, The Calling, Creed, The Darkness, The Kinks, Neil Young, Queen, R.E.M., Ramones, U2, The Who, CCR, Creed, The Clash, The Byrds, The Hives, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ELO, The Yardbirds, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Elvis Presley, Elvis Costello, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Lou Reed, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan,Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Jeff Buckley, John Lennon, etc etc etc
What's the difference between rock musics? Like I've heard of punk, ska, emo, rock, hard rock, screamo, death metal, etc. etc. What's the difference? And any others you want to add in feel free!
Punk- Revolutionary music. Something that stirs up society. Usually very upbeat. (Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Television, The Clash..predominantly 80's)
Ska- Kind of a punk/reggae fusion.. (Five Iron Frenzy...90s)
Emo/Screamo: YOU'RE PIERCING MY HEARTTTTTT I HATE YOU FOR DOING THIS TO MEEEE YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE I EVER LOVEEEEDDDD YOU KEEP STICKING NEEDLES INTO MY SOULLLL blah blah blah. Whiny, annoying bands whos lead singers all sound exactly the same. Dashboard Confessional, Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday.. 90s- current)
Rock: Came about from a mixture of Country and Blues.Usually consist of a vocalist, guitar player, drummer, and a bassist. Guitars are usually the main sound. Just for the record, SIMPLE PLAN IS NOT ROCK KTHX. Strong beats, powerful vocals, usually upbeat but can have slower rhythms as well. ( The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles... 60's was the golden era)
Hard Rock: Like rock, but usually with a edgier sound and a more powerful vocalist. This came about mostly in the 70's. (Guns n' Roses, AC/DC)
Death Metal: Noise. Hard to listen to, understand, or enjoy. Usually for very frustrated individuals. (Black Sabbath.. 70s as well)
Rap: Overrated talking. (Eminem, Nelly, 50 Cent...90s-now)
Psychedelic: Usually drug-fuelled, crazy, trippy stuff... really creative and interesting to listen to though. (The Grateful Dead, The Velvet Underground, Jefferson Airplane...60s)
I know you didn't ask for what decade they were from, but I thought it might be useful to know. :)
Oh and if you have any more music related questions ask away, I'd love to answer.
What are some songs that are about being sad because of the death of a friend? Thank you.
Wherever You Will Go- The Calling (such a sweet song)
Tears in Heaven- Eric Clapton (I think it's actually about the death of his son but it still works.)
