"No one wants Tania (female) who is our manager to stay in our department. She is an idiot. She harasses people (the employees) and is very mean. Today I was talking to Nancy (a coworker and friend) while Nancy was waiting for her documents to be printed from the printer. So Tania comes over and buds in and asks Nita as if I wasn't there: "Is Sandra helping you with something". So I turned to her and said "You know Tania I have a cousin who is a judge and he told me you are harassing us and it is illegal". So Tania says to me in a nervous way "Oh I only said it because Nancy has a customer at her desk." Tania is constantly harassing and bothering all of us. She micromanages and constantly making us all uncomfortable. She buds in where she shouldn't. She is constantly calling people in her office and chewing them out and writing them up every chance she gets. This morning I asked Tania if her scotch tape dispenser needs scotch tape and she replied: I am a grown woman I don't need any one asking me if I need scotch tape dispenser . Let me tell you on a professional level I am here just to work. And one couple came in with their five year daughter. The daughter held my hand the entire time she was at our company and walked with me wherever I went. Tania said to me in a nasty tone of voice: "You are not allowed to walk with her" SHE REALLY IS HARASSING EVERYONE IN MY DEPARTMENT. CUSTOMERS HATE HER AND SO DO WE (MY COWORKERS)" (link)
It sounds like she's been in management for at least some extended period of time and she's starting to have a management break down. How was she was she first started in that position? Where you there at that time? Also, how long did it take for her to start acting like this and has it become progressively worse? Obviously, you and your team have issues with her that are keeping you from exceling at what you do.

Have you talked with your other managers or her superiors? If not, and things are really this bad, they are going to want some kind of proof UP FRONT. You have to do this tactfully though. If your cousin if a judge, then think of these other managers as judges who try to act.... more personal. For example, if customers AND the employees actually hate her, then what good is she in that position? But, you must not completely dog her to your other managers as this will equally make you and the position you're taking on this matter look less credible.

Politely ask one of your managers if it is ok if you can be in charge of conducting random customer exit surveys. This will enable you to go up to customers after the sale and give them a series of questions based on the experience they had with the sales person and what the company offers. This will get the true answer out of the customer, so when you have bad surveys from customers and the rest of the associates behind you on this problem, management will have to do something.

Respect seems like the key issue here. For some reason, she either doesn't respect her job or the company and you obviously don't respect her.

But, regardless of what's going on, your job ultimately is to make your manager look good. I know, it sucks. But, the theory here is that she will get the heck out of there and you will be able to do what you think is best and really turn things around. Even if you just base what you do on the opposite of what your previous leader showed you. I hope this helps!
