Hey, my name is Katie. I live in Australia with my fiance and 2.5 beautiful children. In my 24 years i have had many ups and downs. I've lost loved ones, I've suffered depression, I've been in an emotionally abusive relationship which ended badly, I've cheated and been cheated on, I've been homeless, I've had cancer... Thats just the tip of the ice-berg. I think I'm pretty well qualified to answer pretty much anything you throw at me.

I had sex 10 days ago unprotected. My period should have started 7 days ago. I just took the ept home pregnancy test today and it showed not pregnant. As far as I've read 10 days should be enough time for it to show up on a test. What are the reasons that it wouldn't? Could conception have been too close to my period for it to have taken? If so why haven't I had my period yet? Any insight on any of this would be helpful!
(23/f, my man and I are trying for a family so no lectures on protected sex please!)
Thanks
It depends on the time of day you took the test. The best time is as soon as you wake up as there is more of the pregnancy hormone in you urine. You just need to remember that you're at your most fertile 14 days after the first day of your last period and can be fertile for 2 or 3 days. Also, sperm can survive inside you for up to 7 days. So using all that information, you can figure out how likely you are to be pregnant.
Trying to get pregnant can be very stressful and it can screw with your cycle. Just try not to worry about it too much and you will be pregnant in no time. Good luck!!
