I just changed doctors, and on my first visit during the examination my doctor asked me how long I had a heart murmur. I had no clue what she was talking about, so she scheduled an echocardigram (or something like that).

I was just wondering what this means, is it bad? I'm taking an aerobics class in college. Will this affect what I can do? Any information will be helpful. Thanks!

i had a heart murmur too but that was when i was a baby. it basically is just an unknown sound in your heart. when they listen to your heart beat with a stethescope, they notice some unfamiliar sound, that is called a heart murmur. i had to do that echocardigram thing too. its basicaly a series of tests they do to you. like one time i had to ride a stationary bike and they hooked me up to some machine and looked at my heart rates. another test they did was an ultra sound (what they do to pregnant women) but on my heart.

worst case senario, they do surgury. i had to get surgery on me but i'm perfectly fine now :)

dont worry about it. the doctors know what they are doing.
