im 13 and my period has not started yet but i have been having alot of discharge in the last month or so... today i had some discharge and over it there was a brownish color spot. im not sure if it was blood that had been dried or what. i had a couple cramps 2 day but i have a cold so im not sure. also, the spot was about a penny or a dime sized if that helps...!!! i need your advice ASAP!! thanks :)
Also: what else could this be? my mom started hers at 12 years old or so and ill be 14 in october but she was just barely 12 so....??? (link)

Everyone is different. There isn't a guide book or check list to see if you have had your period. (it would be very help full if there was) :)
When i first started, it was just normal blood in my underware, like it was a cut on my arm or something. It didn't come out heavy and i didn't have any cramps. It's hard to know if you have had your period, but just make sure that you have the supplies you need at school and with you in your purse if you go anywhere. also, try to remember to wear dark pants during your period in case you leak. it's also helpful to have a jacket with you if you do leak, and it shows through your pants, so you can tie the jacket around your waist to cover the spot.
