Q: I have a question for anyone that might know, preferably somebody who knows from experience. How much does it cost to get an ambulance to come pick you up? Will the people who run the ambulance be able to help me or do they need to take me to the hospital? I guess overall what I really need to know just in case it is how much does an ambulance ride cost? Does it vary or is there pretty much a set price? I have been having some problems but I don't know if I can afford to go. Can anybody help me?

I'm pretty sure it varies. But it can financially destroy you if you don't have health insurance.

My sister got taken to the hospital by ambulance a couple of months ago. A month later, they sent us a bill that pretty much said, "If you don't have insurance, you owe us $550". Same goes for Emergency Rooms. They help you first and send a monstrous bill later.

Thank you for your answer! What I found out is that when you need emergency transportation, it doesn't matter what it costs! I waited too long and had to be life flighted to the hospital. My mom said I was being penny wise and pound foolish whatever that means.
