When I try to perform a song...there's a disconnect between what I'm singing & how I'm feeling. I need some advice on how to captivate myself in the emotions the artist wants me to feel.
Particularly, "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack.
what is it about?
thanks!

This song is about someone who is encouraging someone they love to live their life to the fullest. It could fit a variety of situations, and your goal is to find how it applies to your life. When she says "When you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance," she is saying that it is up to you to choose how you will live, and I hope you choose a happy, fulfilling life.

Find a way to put this into your perspective:
If you are a mother, then this could be a way of you saying that you want the very best for your children.
If you or a close friend are going through hard times, this song could be a way of giving them/yourself courage to make it through.
If you know someone who is unhappy, this could be your way of saying you wish them to find happiness.

Just find a way to make this song meet your personal circumstances and you will naturally find a connection.
