I've played volleyball for about 6 years- going into 9th grade- but I can't
stand the people on my team.
I really love volleyball and now that I'm going into high school, now is
when it starts getting serious.
However, I don't feel like part of the team because everyone on the team is
friends and I'm just kind of stuck outside of their crowd. Every time I go
to practice and a match, I feel like I don't belong there and it's getting
really irritating at how they treat me sometimes.
It's getting to the point where playing on the school team isn't fun
anymore and going to practices and matches just seems strenuous cause I
have to deal with their crap. I don't feel like talking to the coaches
either, because they play favorites and I don't think that it would
help.
My parents don't want me to quit the team because they say that there are
always going to be people like that, but I can't take any of this anymore
and it's getting really frusterating- I have no friends on the team and I
always feel left out and it's starting to feel like what's the point of
continuing with this if I don't enjoy it...

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN. I was in the EXACT same position as you were in (volleyball and in high school). I was such an outsider and I couldn't stand the other girls because they were all friends.
Volleyball is 100% a team sport, and you know that. One person can't win the game on their own. If you start to have problems with the other girls, what if it gets to the point where you never get the ball? It will be added stress on and off the court, which is really something you don't need.
I definitely do not think you should quit the sport. Join a club team outside of school. Playing on league teams are so much better. You get girls from different schools who don't know each other, so there aren't any cliques and you make new friends. It doesn't cost too much, depending on where you go, but just explain to you parents that it's affecting your social life and really getting to you.
However, I definitely DO think you should try out for your first year. Give it a chance and see how you like it. You definitely will meet at least one friend since these are girls from other schools now.
Best of luck

Thanks! And my best friend used to be on the team, but she quit this year cause she was having the same problems- we've decided to stick to beach volleyball just for fun and play on the intermural team. The same people will be on the team as well, since I live in a small town and it's always been like that. Which sucks.
