About scootermclisle

Call me scooter. No, it isn't my real name, but I like the idea of having a secret name. Most of the people who have professional advice columns don't use their real names, so I don't see why I should either. I want to give the best advice possible, and I figure that the first way of becoming professional is to act professional. That isn't to say that I plan on growing up to be an advice columnist. Actually, I want to be a psychologist. But, this is as close as I'm going to get to that right about now. I'm also a very good writer, so I figure writing an advice column is a good way of getting my ideas out there. Please feel free to ask me any questions you like.

Ok, so I have been dating this guy for a while now and I really do love him. Like I have thought I was in love before, but realized I have never loved anyone the way I love my boyfriend now. And I know that he loves me. I don't need him to say he loves me, although he does, but I can just feel his love. Well, about a month ago he bought me a promise ring. It is really pretty and I almost never take it off. It's white gold with our birthstones (real stones) and our names engraved in it. The night that he gave it to me he told me how much he loves me, and that someday he would love to marry me. He was saying that he might propose to me in a year or two. I think about this everyday now. He really is my everything. I guess that my problem is I find myself thinking of the future too much, if he proposes. And when I think of this, I become really quiet and he knows what is running through my head. It makes him sad a little just because I am so quiet when I think. Is there any way to not think so much about the whole possible engagement?

What's wrong with thinking about the future? You should care about it. More than that, you should talk about it - especially if your boyfriend is sad that you are becoming quiet. Let him know what's on your mind, and talk about it with him.
