why do a lot guys deal with their problems by partying, sleeping with lots of girls and doing drugs? (link)

I asked my boyfriend the same thing. He told me the reason he likes to drink and do drugs when he has problems is because for a brief time he can forget. When he is on drugs or drunk he can't feel the pain inside and it gives him a break from everything he is feeling. He doesn't sleep with girls but I have a theory why they do that. I think they sleep with girls for many reasons depending on the guy. Some guys do it for a control factor, some for revenge, and some to help their self esteem. I think it is mostly control. If they feel like their lives are out of control they may think making the decision to sleep around will help because they can control it. It's like people who cut themselves...they do it because that is the only way they feel they can control the pain.
There is very little chance you can get someone to stop this and it sucks... but just try to be there for them just in case something happens and if something happens to them they might realize that it isn't the best thing to do.
