cos its not an "official" relationship" but he got me a real expensive birthday gift today, so i'm guessing that hes going to get me something for valentines day too.

Well, he got you something for your Birthday, that counts more than an average Valentine's Day gift.
Birthdays are morely celebrated, compared to Valentine's Day. But lately, the guys have been kicking in their share to make their girlfriends or wives happy and satisfied.
It would be nice to get him something, but most guys don't really expect something on a day that's really for "us" women.
Think of things that he needs or wants, that would be a good gift to give him, because even though it was received on Valentine's Day, he can use it throughout the year.
