for some reason, it never fails, after sex i get a bad urinary tract infection. my mother is beginning to wonder why i keep getting these out of the blue. is there anything that can prevent this? (link)

Yes there is. As soon as possible after sex, go pee. This helps flush out any bacteria that may be around and/or trying to enter the urinary tract. After that, make sure you clean up. If you can't take a shower soon after, then try to clean yourself up as well as you can. You can use baby wipes, a washcloth, or whatever you can find. Basically staying and being clean especially after sex is important. Drinking cranberry juice also helps a lot.
