The farthest chord to the left would be your pointer finger, and then your middle finger, and then your ring finger. But based on where the note is, it's really all about the comfort of your fingers, and what would work the best so they don't start hurting a lot.
As for the diagram, each row of little squares is known as a fret. so starting from the top of the guitar, it's the first fret, then the second, then the third, and so on. So for example, the G chord, the first dot is in the third fret, the second one is in the second fret, and the last dot is in the third fret again. For this chord, you would put your middle finger where the first dot it, your pointer where the second dot is, and your ring finger where the third dot is. Like I said about where you're putting your fingers, you should try first to put your fingers wherever based on the distance, and then try to find the best place that is most comfortable. In the G chord diagram, you wouldn't put your pointer finger first, even though that dot is the farthest away, because you'd have your middle finger and pointer finger crossing each other.
If you want a website that numbers the dots for your fingers, try justinguitar.com I think. I looked up a picture of a g chord on google and it came with this:

Hope I helped, and good luck!
